They're still out there! Boot sale Seiko bargain.

Doesn't happen this well much these days, but wow, today was a good day, in amongst a table full of junk fashion crap watches was this, a January 1974 6139 6012, Its on a non Seiko funky bracelet which on first glance is is awful but its kinda growing on me for the '70s vibe, ( won't ever fit me though ) its running well, keeping good time, the bottom right pusher is stuck down and the sub dial isn't ticking round, needs a crystal but its not too terrible, so far its resisted my efforts to spin the back off, but Ill keep trying.
I couldn't get my £4 out any faster than I did.
Beautiful sunny day and the best boot sale pick up in a very long time, in fact it could be my best spend to value deal to date.

Nice! The stuck pusher is likely down to the gasket having hardened so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. The non-working sub dial might just be the spring that rests on the minute counter wheel needing a slight adjustment, but it could also indicate the finger on the centre chrono wheel has broken off and a good s/h centre wheel was over £100 last time I checked. Still, for four quid...

Thanks all, I’ve been a bit thick, although I’ve had several 6139s over the years, I had forgotten that the sub dial is a minute totaliser and not a running seconds dial, if I keep the chrono running it ticks minutes fine, so it’s just the chrono pusher I need to sort out ( and a crystal).

Hi Lewie, I do have one of Bry’s tools, and it’s great, but it’s not shifting, the case holder is decent too, I’ve got a friend on here that has offered to have a go with a big Bertha.

Jason have you tried the 'nut trick' ?

I would get a wooden tooth pick sharpen to a smaller point go round the out side first and get all the old rubbish out . Use a old toothbrush after
8 or 10 mm nut , super glue or epoxy ..... Glue right in the centre and leave overnight ..... Adjustable spanner and case holder this should open .

My guess is the old gasket has gone to goo , so your going to need some ip alcohol or thinners to get the nut and gooey gasket off
