Thread: Dirty Dozen!

  1. #1

    Dirty Dozen!

It all started with my zest for collecting TF watches. I picked up my Broadarrow PRS-6 in August 2010, and that got me interested in the Record W.W.W., which Eddie told me he'd patterned his after. I found a Record W.W.W. a month later, and thus it began. Now I've assembled them all. Here's my Dirty Dozen, sourced from fellow collectors (and a dealer or two) in five different countries around the world:

    Dozen-Wow!

    Congratulations on your awesome collection!
How long did it take you to complete the set?
I have been collecting these for a while and I have 11 (2 Cyma)
I need, but will probably never find-let alone afford-an IWC and Grana
I also need a Longines dial to replace mine-if you ever come across one, please let me know
You may be one of the only US collectors to have completed the set
I love the look of these and I love wearing them

Nice to see the same specification led to different watches all looking a bit the same .

That's pretty cool. Which is your favorite?

I like the Buren's dial, hands and big crown. The Longines also has a nice looking dial and hand set.

So far, I like the Lemania. It's all about the buttery smooth crown action.

That's a remarkable achievement Roger, which was the most difficult to find?

Due to its limited numbers, the Grana comes up quite rarely. I suppose it's all a matter of timing, but for me the Eterna proved to be the most elusive.

    Grana

There is a Grana For Sale now on Ebay for $11,000+
Only about 1,000 or so were produced
But $11,000 is a bit "steep", no

Awesome group shot! Are they safe queens or do you get chance to wear them?

I like your single minded approach - a collection with an end-point. Well done!

It’s interesting to wonder how a collector might have gone about assembling such a group in the days before the internet.

No doubt the internet has made such collecting possible, especially for me. I live more than an ocean away from the source of these pieces.

Wow you guys are lucky to have all 12!!
I've only got the Eterna, how do you guys with the dozen rate the Eterna compared with the others?
I like the all Stainless case and the smooooth turning crown when setting the time.
    Cheers, Marcus.

    The tax man cometh...
Also, my main focus is post-war RAF watches so it wasn't too hard to sell the WWWs

There are certainly more than 10 complete sets out there! I think there are at least 5 on this forum now.

    Here's mine anyway.

some chaps will go to any lengths to slip a new watch past the missus, even buying a dozen that look the same ;)

For anyone with a spare £20k, there is a dirty dozen (presumably one of the above) for sale as a set on MWR.
