    "U" Boat clock

A guy at work brought this in today -

A German "U" Boat clock in brass. There's not a lot to be said about it other than what it is.
It winds but doesn't run. He's had it valued at around £500 - £600

The reason I ask, is it may be possible to find out, the info is probably out there somewhere, its worth asking on one of the uboat forums.

Towards the end of the war, the entire German navy archive records were captured by British intelligence (it was actually found by a unit led by Ian Fleming of James Bond fame), there was several thousand tons of papers shipped back to the UK by a fleet of lorries and several ships, so the info is probably available, its just a matter of finding it.

That's a handsome beast. The German military procurement machine showed a real flair for design appreciation in such matters.

Now that is f...... gorgeous, I'd give him what it was valued for and a bonus on top ;-)

The "N" means it was for the German fleet in the North Sea!

Oh well, seeing as he didn't take my hint, I had to buy one elsewhere ;-)

And here's a page out of Dr. Konrad Knirim's book, where an order form for the repair of the said clock (amongst others) was also shown ;-)

Sorry I've only just seen the reply. The guy was a contractor and has since left.
