The new grey NATO will be a different grey

Following on from this thread - http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...w-NATO-samples - as existing stocks of NATO straps sell out, all new stock will be fitted with the new hardware. The first straps which will be replaced are the grey and I decided to change the colour of grey to be closer to the traditional admiralty grey. Initially it will be 18 & 22mm, I still have reasonable stocks of 20mm.

I for one am pleased with the subtle change in colour.

I think it's a good move towards what the majority of buyers are probably looking for, based on their aim to recreate an original.

This, added to the comfort your straps provide, will no doubt keep them high up on peoples wish list.

Any chance of a picture showing the old grey next to the new grey, to get a better idea of the light levels in the photo & possible differences due to monitor brightness/contrast?

It seems a fair bit darker which is probably a good thing, but at the same time I also quite like the current "silver" grey too, so might buy a spare or two before the current stocks run out. It sometimes goes well on watches that otherwise work better on a bracelet than a strap, I find, although equally the darker grey is probably going to be a better all-rounder.

You realise that a NATO could be used for light bondage, if you are so inclined... Maybe Eddie should consider branching out, although the name of this forum suggests he may have had that in mind for some time.

    I don't have the samples, that's a manufacturer's picture.

At last a decent grey NATO. I have a Phoenix strap at the moment, but I just don't find the material to be as comfortable as the Timefactors NATO.

    Thanks Eddie.

I'll be ordering - could you post in this thread when you get the new 20mm in?

I've one of your current grey 20mm - in the Sun it's almost silver.

There's room for both in rotation on my 2264.

Good news assuming the new grey is darker. Looking forward to the 20mm version.

I'll be getting the new grey NATO from Eddie when they go on sale but I'm really liking the existing 'silver' grey supplied with my 29A. Does anyone know where I can purchase one of these (18mm)?

Should be able to get them from Mister TimeFactors himself here http://www.timefactors.com/

Old (silver) grey in 18mm is now out of stock and my understanding from this thread is that it will be replaced by the new, darker grey only, hence my question on alternatve sources for the old grey NATO......

I was out of stock of the 18mm grey and the new hardware wasn't ready so I ordered 100 x 18mm with the old hardware to keep me going. You can see from the picture that the new grey is darker, I sent them an old Phoenix grey to match the colour. It's also 5mm longer at 290mm.

    I like both

I have a couple of Pheonix's in the darker grey but will certainly be buying a TF one when available - for a start the fittings are far superior

Eddie, when can we buy the new grey straps in 22mm ? I want to order a few. It sounds crazy, but I haven't been this excited about a watch related item in quite a while :)

Is there an ETA for the new grey NATO in 18mm? I would like one in the near future.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

  24. #24
Same here but for the 20mm... Bought a Phoenix in the interim but it's not a patch on the TF ones IMHO so quickly switched back to the black TF....

Have been looking at near charcoal grey straps. These look bloody nice(esp with new hardware) fingers crossed for a 20mm v soon.

Also, any news if a PVD version will be available?

Not that you can see from the website. 18mm still currently out of stock. I'm waiting to buy the 18mm & 22mm too (and the 20mm when it's available).

I've been checking the website as well. It's midweek now, was hoping for a weekend treat.

I'm after the 20mm, but I fear I may have a bit of a wait while the stocks of silver deplete...

What's the ETA on the new 20mm?

I've a hankering for another 18Q, but want to time it so I can get the new grey NATO at the same time.

20mm is about 6 weeks away. I have the 18mm and 22mm, just got to change the website.

Does anyone know if the new darker grey is available in 22mm yet? I can ring Eddie when I get a chance if nobody knows.

Does anyone know if the weave will be tighter, therefore making the strap stiffer?
    Thanks

I think the 6 weeks was for the 20mm. The 18mm and 22mm have already arrived, just not on his website :(

It's lovely, get one. Just what you'd expect and the furniture is definitely a step up. I'll write up a bit more when I get a minute.

    They are here!

The new grey nato is available today on the TF site. Unfortunately I have no 18mm or 22mm lug watches at the moment. :(

    Dave

I ordered a couple of the old black in 20mm, and the new 22mm grey today. I'm looking forward to comparing them. I've always been pleased with the older design, and have high hopes for the new one. I also picked up one of the coyote color to see if it is of the same construction as the blue (with PRS-82) or more like the black. The blue has started fraying on the end, which has never happened on any of my black TF NATOs.

Ordered the 18mm for my PRS-29a, been deliberately not wearing it for the past month or so until I get a hold of the new strap.

Mine arrived today (cheers Eddie) and I love it. The colour is fantastic and coupled with the quality and weave of the fabric it's got to be about as good as you can get anywhere. Oh, and it's longer which is great as I always felt the other ones were too short.

I wasn't sure I'd take to the new hardware but that's also excellent; I really like the buckle and the angled edges to the bars. Here it is on my Everest:
