It has been mentioned somewhere, IIRC it depends on the demand. If there were to be, then the movement would be a stock ETA.

There will be demand without a doubt.... I worry abt the stock ETA even, given that there was another discussion on the shortage of ETA movements...

Best to get those sorted out while or once they are avail... sure the rest of us will all not mind being on the non le 50 list

I spoke with Roland Kemmner on Wednesday about the apparent misalignment of the printing on the dial and he said he would inspect every dial. He reported back that under a 10x loupe, there is some slight misalignment of the "No Radiations" logo but that at actual size this does not exceed 0.1mm on any dial and cannot be noticed.

He then explained that the logo is applied by a 3-stage pad printing process, first the orange circle, then the red radiation symbol and then the black cross. This of course means that 3 printing stages have to be perfectly aligned. He also said that he didn't think we could get them better even if they were re-done.

Here's an article explaining pad printing and I have to say that it looks quite primitive! Small production runs of dials are still done on the manual presses.

Every 'no-radiation' dial I've seen has a very subtle appearance of asymmetry. I think there is an element of trompe l'oeil in the symbol design itself, but no doubt the printing process contributes also. Personally, I'm not looking for a perfect watch, I'm looking for a tough watch (like the PRS-14 and DN) that, while not perfection embodied, are purpose-built tools fit for a mission.

I could be wrong but I think pad printing goes back a long way to pottery in the 19thC.

I don't think it has changed a whole bunch since then, kind of a slightly higher tech version of screen printing.

Kind of an off topic but I got my Yao FF today. Nice watch but I cannot wait to compare the precista, and see Eddies cool bezel insert.

I know there's no news, because I know Eddie will post it when he's got it. I'm just posting this to share my pain at the wait...

The Italian is being made first (non-LE) and the AS2063 movements are being cleaned, lubed and regulated this week. I only found out by accident today that the same sub-contract watchmaker who is assembling the Italians is the same sub-contract watchmaker Roland Kemmner employed to assemble the PRS-50.

What an incestuous industry this is.

Are we likely to see this one before the end of the year now, Eddie?

Is there a current owners list for these, or should I try and start one?
