I guess the complications with the bezel were never going to be cheap to fix.
Something near £600 would make it easier to keep within my 5 watch rule.
Oh well, we just keep hoping for the sub 400 pound solution...Originally Posted by raysablade

I can live with the date, but unfortunately simply don't like the logo :(Originally Posted by swanbourne

I appreciate I made a commitment to buy when I reserved it, so in case there is any problem shifting all 50 LEs, you can still count on me to buy one.
If you don't want it Andre, I'm sure Mr Randazzo will be delighted.

Eddie, I can't find the info, but is the system for the crown that's used in the PRS-50 the same as used in the DN?
Or is it the same as used in the PRS-14/18?
Just curious...
It's not the de-coupling crown in the PRS-50 Bernard.
Eddie

That is good since if it was a coupling crown we might have all sorts of little crowns running around....
Is it the 1200 meters water-resistant crown from your other divers? Or a conventional crown solution?Originally Posted by swanbourne

You know Eddie... I think with treatment you could learn to say what is really on your mind without having to beat around the bush so much?
<SIGH>
It is with much regret (and I am in no small way being pushed by spousal decisions to purchase luxury goods which are now cheaper as a result of the CDN-US exchange) that I must withdraw my position on the PRS-50-LE list, Eddie. I just can't make the stretch on top of various bits of leather and cloth hung on straps and stamped by French designers. Perhaps if I had not already picked up that Stowa Ikarus... alas, hindsight is just that.
Sorry.

Eddie, what is the case finish on this one going to be? Just curious about whether it will be all polished or a polished/brushed combination (thinking about bracelet options...).

My feeling is that it should be just polished.Originally Posted by Dave E

Polished.

John, what have you gone for as a bracelet? I'm considering mesh.

You and me both John. That was the killer for me with this project.Originally Posted by abraxas
I'd really hoped that the LE at least would be domed acrylic to keep true to one of the main visual features of the original, far more so than the "no rads" issue.
I'm now hoping there will be a non LE so I can try to fit it with an acrylic. I fear that it will have to be custom made though. I haven't as yet found a suitable one with the underlay.
I'd have preferred domed acrylic too, or domed sapphire as a substitute, but I understand why Eddie has made the choice ultimately. Still looking forward to getting one!Originally Posted by GeoffD

Hehe, me too. Omega mesh would be ideal but apart from the cost one also has to deal with the huge Omega buckle but if I decide to keep the watch then only the Omega mesh will do. In the mean time I am getting one of Hong Kong Ray?s just to try things out. There are a few other meshes around but the problem is always the fastening not blending in well. I am sure we are going to see lots of different meshes on the PRS-50. Mesh is the choice of today for vintage style divers.Originally Posted by Dave E
I do have somebody who might be able to do it assuming there?s enough lip to hold the acrylic. Of course it will probably completely compromise the water resistance and this is something I can only decide upon after I see the watch. To convert a capable diver into a dress-watch might be something I am not prepared to accept.Originally Posted by GeoffD

The Omega mesh is very nice, but I couldn't get over the signed buckle I don't think. I've got a Lonestar mesh which is very nice, but I wish I could find one heavier than 3.2mm.Originally Posted by abraxas

I cannot stand the final welded tin edge on all the other mesh bracelets. Makes them look 'third world'. :evil:Originally Posted by Dave E
I can work my mind round the Omega buckle ... somewhat like Recaro car seats ... why not have the best mesh for your tool watch? :P

I noticed a whole slew of cool black rubber straps for sale, I am guessing there are a bunch just waiting for the 9th when Fricker promised the 50?

ah the second of November, 1 week until the 9th when either Eddie gets the 50's or some poor shipping guy at fricker gets shown the door for giving a date....... anybody want to bet which it will be?
That poor guy will be haunted by all 30 on the list... :lol:Originally Posted by jtbold

Are they quoting dates for shipping to you, or for you to receive the watches, by the way?
Looking forward to it, hoping to get it on my wrist this month :D

Yeh, I tried that after my inbound count reached five in the past month.
Still succumbed just now to one that was too good a price to pass up over on another forum though
Eddie
just to let you know that i will be on hols from 9th Nov to the 16th Nov so if it arrives during then i wont be answering e-mails
Hold better tell you its Nov 2007 that i will be away
are they talking the 13th of this month... or this year? My yao FF got bumped to the 17th, what do you want to bet that both come the same day just to give my wife the chance to give me speech #3? That is the one about all those watches, and these two look alot a like...
This one isn't being finally assembled by Fricker. Roland Kemmner, the production engineer, resigned earlier this year and the project stalled. Roland has since set up on his own in partnership with another independent German watch manufacturer and I asked him to pick up the project and complete it. He was responsible for the technical aspects of design and the project was 80% completed when he left.
I left the project with Fricker for a month after he left and nothing happened, the dials and crystals hadn't even been ordered. Roland has picked it up, acquired the components from Fricker and will complete the watch. Although he doesn't enjoy the economies of scale that Fricker does, he agreed to hold the price at that agreed with Fricker.
In case anyone is worried about this, I have every confidence in the quality of what Roland will produce because he's the only person I have dealt with at Fricker since the Dreadnought.
If anyone wishes to cancel their reservation in view of this information, please let me know by e-mail (not PM).

Whats a little more time. This one will have to keep me happy for awhile. I may even be liquidating some of my collection (not the PRS's of course).
