    Your top 3 Bond themes

Im watching a repeat of the James Bond 50th anniversary concert on BBC4 at the moment

Got me to thinking about my favourites

    Purely subjective of course

    1. Thunderball (Tom Jones)

2, The Man With The Golden Gun (Lulu)

    3. You Only Live Twice (Nancy Sinatra)

Really difficult choice as I like so many of them

    What are your top 3?

And two of those 3 would be in my top 3 bond films too.

All the time in the world - performed so well on the BBC4 concert. Not sure of the film. Isn't used sometimes as "interlude" music in some of the earlier films?

Funny how no-one has mentioned Madonna in their top 3!

    Mine will be about as unpopular I imagine;

    1) You Know my Name
    2) Tomorrow Never Dies
    3) The World is Not Enough.

I also don't hate Another Way to Die from QoS.

Don't get me wrong, I love the classic bond, I just don't think the music has aged all that well. Iconic, but not my cuppa.

    1. Diamonds are Forever
    2. Forever
    3. Forever

I think thus is so far ahead of any of the others I can't rank 2nd. or 3rd places. One of my all time favourite pieces of music. The opening motif is simple yet stunningly brilliant - if diamonds made a noise this is what they'd sound like.

Funnily enough, as well as liking the classics I really like You Know my Name and Another Way to Die, and they would definitely be in my top 10. Most of the 70's ones I find have dated badly though.

Probably my favourite Bond theme! If I had to choose a top three (today) it would also include Live and let die and You only live twice.

    Live and let die
    Sky fall
    Diamonds are forever

That last one only edges out the wonderful theme from quantum of solace for me, great song for a modern one

I thought it would be unpopular, but I seem to be wrong. Great tune.

#1 (by a big margin) 'From Russia With Love' - Matt Monro

(Matt Monro is arguably the best singer of popular music the UK has produced)

He is reputed to be the only British singer that Sinatra rated

I know it's not the theme tune, but from the same film, this is the business

Ive always thought that he would have made a good Bond if he had stuck with it. In any event, something with Diana Rigg in has got to be worth watching - as a bonus a young Joanna Lumley appears as one of the women in Blowfelts alpine liar.

As regards this song - it appears in most of the compilations on sale as a 'theme tune'
''I must acknowledge, once and for all, that the

    The living daylights.
One from QoS. ( not a great film but good theme).

Do not like skyfall, Adele sounds like she's being strangled. ( if you could actually get your hands around her neck ).

Upon Matt Monro’s death, Frank Sinatra said this:

"His pitch was right on the nose, his word enunciations letter perfect and his understanding of a song thorough. He will be missed very much not only by myself, but by his fans all over the world."

My two favourite Bond songs were not actually theme songs and the 2nd one may not even be classified as a Bond film by some. But great songs even if they were not in Bond films.

1 On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) · Louis Armstrong - We Have All The Time In The World
2 Casino Royale (1967) · Dusty Springfield - The Look Of Love
3 For Your Eyes Only (1981) · Sheena Easton - For Your Eyes Only

And the worst three are all recent films. Maybe I am turning into a grumpy old man.

Quantum Of Solace (2008) . Jack White-Alicia Keys - Another Way To Die
Casino Royale (2006) · Chris Cornell - You Know My Name
Die Another Day (2002) · Madonna - Die Another Day

    1. The Man with the Golden Gun (how can you beat a song with Lulu telling you "He has a powerful weapon..."?)
    2. From Russia With Love
    3. Skyfall

... and an honourable mention for Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
