Wait, so this is just a thread for gratuitous photos showing the supreme versatility of the SKX007? Cool, I'll hop on...
PS - The blue looks very nice by the way.

That's a superb mod. I've had those hands on my eBay watch list for months. Might have to take the plunge...

That bracelet looks nice and chunky but I do like a dive watch with a shark mesh. They seem to go together.

I only just realised the hour hand is hidden in that shot. Doh! Though you can see it a bit in this one below. I can't take any of the credit for this mod though, I bought it like that from the fine gentleman James.uk on this forum...

Oh good, couldn't work out if it if I was being stupid and it was a single hander or I had missed something! I might have to get a blue nato to try out as well.

Being looking at these for a while now. Decided over the last week or so that the time had come. Hopefully I'll have one acquired in the next week or so. Looks like I'll be having some fun if the pics are anything to go by!!

My modded 007, with a custom dial with my son's name and birthdate. I wear it mostly on a Yobokies Super Oyster.

Classic tropic strap is a good look, too. I built this one from left over parts from a 007 and a Seiko "5", and added some mod parts.

Loving that red bezel and snowflake hand mod! How easy is the bezel change, assuming it was your work of course?

    Thanks!

The bezel insert was probably the easiest one of all the mods (dial, hands, chapter ring - I've also put a domed glass on it, looks great but a bitch to photo)

Ditto! Classy mod that makes for an expensive looking watch, good choice with the mesh too, looks fabulous ;)

    Some great shots above

My 7002 says hello and bravo!

  26. #26
As much as I agree the 007 is a great watch. I have had it in many forms but it is just too big for me.

Unless its on a decent bracelet, (always wanted to try a wjean super jubilee) I cant wear it.

I do however love Citizens staple diver, the NY00xx series
2mm smaller but feels much better

Great watches and some great photos.

I got mine last year from Creation...

    Those oysters look damn good...

Its funny, despite the 007 being considered an icon that every watch enthusiast should own, I can't remember seeing that many of them on the Friday threads.

Nope, all came from Dagaz/10Watches (although the Yobokies ones are probably identical!)

I'm new to this watch lark and I'd be really interested to know why it's so popular... I must admit that I had read a few reviews on here before buying mine but it I bought it mainly for the looks and cost. Stylish, good for most occasions, good water resistance, etc, etc. maybe I've answered my own question...

Harold (Yobokies) had it done by someone in Hong Kong, I think, but it was a huge hassle for him and I haven't seen him offer it since. I've been trying off and on to find another way of getting them done. Most recently, a dial restorer said they could do it, but it would be a $150 setup fee and $50 per dial, even if I supply camera-ready art. Still looking.

    Mine say hello:

A watch that every divers watches collection should have, IMHO. One of my favorite watches overall.

I have bought, sold, regret selling, purchase again this watch about ten times in the past (and 6-7 times the 009). Finally decided to settle with these two (along with a couple of NATOs for a change).

  36. #36
They really are so versatile, if don't think you can get a better watch for the money!

I have a SKX007 & a SKX011, with a super-oyster and rubber which offer several combinations - although the 007 spends most it's time on the super oyster.

Several friends have gone on to purchase and SKX after inspecting mine, many thinking they were a more expensive watch.

I do always buy the 'J' versions though, don't know why!?

Just noticed but why do some say 21 jewels on the face and some don't?

They're all 21 jewelled but what's on the dial depends on whether it's a J or K version.

  40. #40
I've lost track on how many I have bought, sold, bought, modified sold ... Must be at least 5.

Good value for the money & endless modification options!

The ones with the 21 jewels on the dial are the J (made in Japan) versions, without the K versions

I've just bought my first sxk007 with the intention of modifying it. Are there any websites people could point me for picking up various part.

Got to love the SKX007, I've had a few of them over the years. I don't have one at the moment but I'll probably get another after looking at this thread!

They look great on any strap but I think I preferred mine on a black nato:

How could I have forgotten the BC rubber? It's the best rubber strap I've owned:

Dagaz/10 watches have an online shop, yobokies just have photobucket pictures and you need to contact them (Harold).

I bought one last year after reading about them on the forum, it was a good introduction to an automatic watch, they are great for changing straps for different looks and a good benchmark for quality. I have found they give you perspective when looking at other watches, sometimes more expensive, let you decide if they are worth the difference.

Probably the easiest watch to modify, but so hard to get right.
