Im a trainer in a chemical company , however linked to Omegamanic above i completed a degree last year at the ripe old age of 56 , having left school with only CSE's . Oh and the best part i was awarded a first!

Part of the piece concerned an industrial estate where the girls had worked and the police turned something of a blind eye. The site had since been purchased by property developers who were building prestige housing, and the girls were being pressured into moving elsewhere.

Jenni summarised (and I paraphrase, as it was a while ago). "When this was an industrial estate the girls could work with a minimum of harrassment, but they are no longer welcome now it's an up and coming location".

'Always has been, Jenni' were my thoughts.

Regarding my own occupation, I wanted to be a jockey or a meat porter, but after a spell as Professor of Difficult Sums at Staveley Uni near Chesterfield, I spent the last few years until retirement as a landscape gardener on a sewerage farm, (No, Mr V, this is not the euphemism you might think it is).
    Hahahahahah "prestige" Hahahaha.

The industrial estate is still full o'business.

Do you mean you herd squirrels or you hurdle them? Or does 'herdle' mean to combine the two?

Incidentally the curry was excellent, by far the best I've had in a long time.

I'm a burner in a heavy foundry, We make castings of up to 580 tonnes but they usually finish up at half-ish that weight..

    This is what I do..

And some of what we produce...

I used to love doing what I do but now it's taken it's toll after 35 years and my joints are kaput, I can't see myself being able to do it for much longer

Since my 00 licence was revoked, I've had a chance to start again.

Now, I run an underground lair which I hire out to film studios.

    It pays the bills.

Brilliant John. Not many of these true Sheffield tradition places left. Know a few people who work and have worked there as well

Sort of kind of an accountant, business consultant and such like.

Sold the practicing accountant arm of my practice early last year.

Worked part time last year as an FD and spent the rest of the time trading the stock market, reading books, watching films and messing around online.

Now wondering what to do really. I'm 42 and think it's too early to retire, and I can't quite afford it as I spent too much money on shoes and watches.

I'm a permanent student (well at least by now I get paid for it) for at least another two weeks (then I will be unemployed) and in my spare time I teach Judo to kids (that money I earn there, I am allowed to spend on watches).

For some reason I find this thread really interesting - great to see how an eclectic mix of people can be bought together by watches.

I help run our family body shop (vehicle crash repair - not cosmetics!)

My official job title is Bodyshop Manager.

My actual job is as varied as negotiating huge (for us - several £100k's) contracts to emptying bins and washing cars!
