I am a big fan of Paolo's creation, been wearing mine solid for 2 weeks now.
But I wouldn't class it as a mission timer.
Personally I cannot think how he could integrate a bezel into his elegant case design without it looking odd, as the raised numerical minute index effectively serves as a fixed besel already. But this has no such feature, so a bezel could fit right on......

Same here, one of the few watches that appear on here that I always look at and wish I owned.
What's the difference between the 62 and 64?
Now that Eddie is happy to make chronographs again, I am more hopeful than I was a few years ago that this project will go ahead.
I am also hopeful that we will see the re-re-issue of the PRS-17Q, not least because I have seen mock-up pictures on here of proposed watches using the Precista 89 case. I am intrigued as to whether we will see a PRS-17Q with the 89 dial as before, or the 1988 dial that I would love to see. Even better if both dials are offered as a choice.
How about an internal bezel like the Aquastars that seem have worked their way on to my wish list

Keeps the case simple but perhaps not the mechanism. Still a very elegant solution.

It is an old topic and because never this project found its production I tried to do my own 17c MT. I found dial and found watchmaker who modyfied movement to keep only central minute and second.

Looks fantastic!
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
That looks very cool. Want to share details of how it was done - donor watch, movement etc? Just interested to know what it took to get there and also how its working longer term.
Wasn't there a company that sort of allowed you to customise your own watch from a catalogue of parts? MKii or something, I'm sure I spent ages mocking up some designs on their site years back.
Whoo that looks fabulous.

I found only dial what would fit this case and date wheel. I discovered that all vostok amphibia and komadirskie aftermarket dials fit very well. I wanted to keep date on the dial and all eta dials have it placed more to the centre.
The movement had removed all small hands to keep the dial clean.
That was my inspiration

Brilliant, Kister.
I put different dial, and like this look better now

What are we looking at... 42mm?
I also think it should be a Smiths, perhaps.

It's borderline for me at 42mm.

Finally! Have been checking this thread for years.
Can't wait.
Fabulous news!!
Which movement is going to be used?

I’m 100% in at any size it looks amazing.
This looks a great project. Will it be in the PRS17 case or will there be a new case design? I have a PRS 17Q which I enjoy to wear and has been perfect (apart from the common loss of the bezel lume pip) but would like this in a different design destro case. I have scanned the long thread but don't see anything clear about case design, of course I could easily have missed it, so apologies if I have. I also favour the orange handset.
I have been thinking about these for a while, and even considered trying to get one made myself.
I have to say my preferred design would be based on the Sinn Nabo 17 cockpit clock
If you use the ETA 251.264 movement, and destro it, the running seconds are at 12, exactly as per the above. (Running seconds is probably the biggest missing feature in many mission timers for those that like to see their watch operating all the time)
The shame of it is that I have thought about it so long that Sinn have gone and released a very similar watch this year, based on the same design.........
However, theirs is over Ł4k. Room enough to make this version a little more affordable.......
Dave
The problem I have with this its it looks like a homage of the X-33 case (but hard to tell from one pic) and there are some really hilarious nasty X-33 fakes - that look nothing like the real one - what makes them funny is they just put a normal dial in there or something.
I think such a utilitarian and useful watch (great dial) should have a case to match.

ooh I notice, no side lump like the X-33, so not THAT bad. But dunno, for me it doesn't match the dial.
For me the mission timer is crying out to be in the same case as the original prs-17.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
Sorry, me too. The old 17C is a very unsophisticated case design, with its square lugs, flat internal lug gap, simple crown guards and total lack of facets and chamfers.
To go back to that would be (for me) a mistake.
I am not suggesting this needs bombe lugs or anything purely decorative like that, but something a little more shapely than the 17C, for sure.
The A-13A is a reasonable comparison, it looks very purposeful and tool-ish whilst retaining a little elegance.
The Lemania 817 case (as used for the SwAF and SAAF Lemanias and later developed into the Sinn case for most of their chronos) is also a good basic chrono case.
The Cairelli case design is also lovely, but almost entirely functional.
D
This design is my favourite too, but can we have a titanium version, please? I wouldn't like my nickel allergy to ruin any missions to save the world.
All very true, but assuming we're talking about the same watch, the A-13A's case looks very generic to me.
The old 17C case is no-nonsense, like the Ploprof. Those missing facets and chamfers you bemoan are a big part of the appeal for me and it would fit a niche in my collection nothing else occupies.
A chrono with a generic case and a bezel, less so.
Each to their own, of course, and I'm sure Eddie has his own, strong ideas on what he sees this watch being and he's usually been proved right before.
