    Well spotted!

The Quidco on this is miserly, but for anyone with a Halifax debit or credit card, Play.com is one of the retailers on its cashback scheme - a further 10% is not to be sniffed at (no affiliation, any longer, I'm happy to say).

    Great price and great tablet!
Be aware though that the new one with retina display will be out at the end of the month (if you can get hold of one that is)

We were waiting for the iPad Mini 2, but this seemed like such a reasonable price.
I think the new one will be £299 and as you suggest, may be very hard to get hold of until early next year.

Agreed. We have the first generation and don't see any issue with the screen - not worth the wait and the extra money.
If you do decide at a later date that you want to upgrade, it will be easy to sell and get a good proportion of your money back as long as you keep it is good nick

Would there be any issues with it being US sourced with warranties etc?

When you buy anything in this country - as here (this is a UK dealer and it's a VAT deal, just checked!) the warranty is under standard UK law and with the retailer, nothing to do with Apple or the US. Only difference is you will get a US power lead with UK adaptor.

    Well said Max.
Basically £120 less than the new one with a slightly slower processor, and no Retina screen.
Seems like a bargain to me.

For all those who are not particularly keen on Ios (like me !), look at the new Lenovo Yoga - excellent VFM and very competitively priced !!

Its not bad but 16gb has had its day and will fill very quickly with modern apps that are growing in size, I wouldnt touch anything below 32gb for futureproofing

I know it's a whole £29.01 more but you can still pick a brand new UK version up from Tesco Direct for £229 with free Click & Collect, plus a fiver or so more back via Top CashBack if that's your bag (assuming it tracks...fingers crossed!) - I did it last week and it came in at £222.47 all in; subject to the cashback being confirmed of course, great deal though.

I would usually agree with you as there is nothing more annoying than running out of storage space but tech seems to focussing more and more on cloud storage and the powers that be seem be trying to push local storage down to echo this.
(my iphone does currently only have 15/64 Gb free right enough so who am I to question!!) :)

I haven't embraced it yet, avoided mobileme and now icloud at all costs, it's an irrational thing. I use dropbox but only for document retrieval the new amazon one may sway me. I know I need to get on board eventually!!

The amazon one works a treat. Buy your CDs from them (usually one of the cheapest anyway) and your new album is instantly available from the cloud.
First time I have really ventured into cloud storage too.

Well that was a short lived bargain.
I had nothing but problems all yesterday with Play processing the payment declaring that I need to amend my billing address to the one held by the card issuer.
I spoke to Play first thing this morning and the did a security check over the phone, told me the amount was accepted then I got another email minutes later saying declined!!
It transpires that every time I kept doing as they asked yesterday they used the £1 check thing (which passed on every occasion as I've been onto Halifax fraud this morning) and kept doing so until my card issurer got fed up declined the whole thing this morning and Play have cancelled the order!
No recourse and no ipad mini for little Joe!!!#

I've also cancelled my account with Play for no other reason as I felt I had to do something on the phone to show my displeasure!

I ordered online and had similar problems

It was first declined due to card security issues, but I phoned the card provider and gave them my inside leg measurement and the name of my Granny's favourite goldfish and the payment went through.

So hopefully I'll have a shiny new iPad in the post which will no doubt be played with for a while and then purloined by one of my sons

Due to my physical stance was wondering if an iPad would be better than the PC.

It is the"latest" version, if it was the previous version, it would be worth much more.

Read the 'iPad to TV' topic below first, ATV is not the most reliable bit of kit Apple have ever made and is reliant on a certain standard of wireless setup.

I am sure more deals will emerge as the ipad mini 2 becomes available. But at the moment Tesco direct are offering a £30 discount on the 32gb for £289 delivered to your local store. It's a small saving on the standard £319 that is the cartel price, but enough to buy a nice leather case with. I ordered mine yesterday and it will be in store to pick up with the shopping tomorrow.

I dont think it bothers me enough to chase them about it...makes me wonder whether its a refurb...did come in the proper box and cellophane wrapped too though!

£289 brand new delivered is a great price for the 32gb (just seen one on the classifieds on here today for £290 + shipping *used*).

The Mini Retina 32gb will be £399.

Having used a Mini for nearly a year I would have to go for 32gb next time, this should be Apple's starting point and will be in a year no doubt. Just with the Apps and photos I store mine has only 1/2 G free. No room for a single video at all. My iPod Touch 32gb however, can store 5 films on top.

Black Friday this year is Nov 29th - obviously a US centric thing, info here but some UK retailers might want to out-discount Apple:
