There is a spin off of 'Gold Divers' (might have been the show you mentioned, I didn't catch it!) called "Under the Ice".

Gold Divers is mental enough - diving the Bering Sea to hoover up dirt then sift it for gold - but that Under the Ice is insanity, doing the same under a couple of metres of frozen sea!
