The best orange dialed watch is.......

What do you think the best orange dialed watch is based on any of the following:

    1-- the most prestigious?

2-- the highest quality or vfm?

3-- whatever way you want to measure best?

    Thanks,
    Jack

I would say best vfm would have to be the new Orange Monster.

I own a new OM which I have to say is a fantastic budget diver with the hacking movement and the ability to hand wind but, I sold my original OM to a mate who continually wears it in my presence and I have to say there's just something about the original dial that keeps making me wanting to replace it.

Another vote for the Monster for VFM. Although my personal favourite, and my only orange watch is the Seiko Velatura SNDA63P1.

Many will quote the OM as their favourite, how about something a little left-field?

I got an Orient Ray (I believe the successor to the Mako) with an Orange dial - I thought it was pretty good value for money, about £80. The Orange Monster looked a bit too chunky for me, although I can see why it has a lot of love :)

Without a doubt i would suggest the original OM was the best VFM

    Doxa for me.

Had an OM, now have a 1200t. Would love to get hold of an old 300T professional!

I don't know of any orange watch that screams "prestigious"? The planet ocean with orange bezel is still nice but any orange dialed watch that's been in my watch box has been a holiday/summer fun watch... As some of the pics in this thread also seem to compound.

VFMis definitely the orange monster though... Awesome watch, especially the newer models!

Quality wise I think the Anonimo's would be near the top. Great build quality. In that respect I think the Polluce Bronze would be a top contender.

The best orange I've ever seen (in person, on a watch) is this Bulova Snorkel:

The best IMHO is the Doxa dirk pitt. And actually the watch that established this color on the watches dials, according to what I have red in the past.

But, personally I have a Zeno 300m diver and I wouldn't want to spend more on an orange dial watch.

    The monster looks great, too.

Any truth in Doxa being the brand that first popularised orange divers?

Orange Monster (old version) would go to best buy category.

Good value for money and much better looking live than on photos is Seiko Sumo

Not sure about the Doxa being "first" question, but I love mine and I think it's the best orange there is....

My daily wearer is an OM but I've seen some really nice Doxas too, but with other price tags too. So my vote is inconclusive. Depends on the budget I guess.

I believe this is Doxa marketing spin, along with them "co-developing the HRV with Rolex" - IIRC the Zodiac Sea Wolf had an orange dial around 1960, nearly a decade prior to the Doxa 300 coming to market.

Orange didn't really become "popular" until the 2000s with the reissue Doxas marketed off the back of hero Dirk, and Seiko jumping on the wagon too with the Monster

I personally think there is only one orange dialled watch to have, and that is a Doxa Sub 1200T Professional. The Seiko Monster is a close second.
