Debenhams also have various Loake shoes at 50% off once again. YH99 code gives you 10% off for the next 3 days. Just got a pair of tan Langdale (I think) semi brogues, made in England for £85.50 and 5% cashback via Topcashback instead of the £190 on the Loake site

    I've got a question please.

Santa's bringing me a new pair of Loake boots. I have the Loake wax and shoe cream already and I wonder which I should apply before wearing for the first time. I'm thinking more about protecting them from rain as it's winter so am I correct in thinking it's better to wax them for protection?

they are already waxed and polished in factory. I don't touch shoes for 2-3 weeks, because of there is no need.

Shoe trees. Cream. Rest. Wax. Polish.

When you get them they might well be dry, take care of them early on.

Look up some shoe care videos on YouTube - good shoe care is enjoyable and will enable your shoes to age nicely.

This. If they are very dry, do two rounds of cream (and do not over-apply). It's all very simple and this routine always works.

I notice that afterwards and pulled my socks up!

These are samples for a line that I think Loake never made (or never made quite like that) - got them off their ebay store.

    Rude!

They're similar to a Cheaney Tweed, rather nice.

It's like a tweed (leather underneath obviously) - After wearing them as slippers for a few days they are already pretty conformable - the women in the office seem to like them so...

A pair of Trickers Crocodile skin wing tip brogues with leather sole.

Acquired a few pairs of Trickers over the last year, including a "special made to order" pair of Henry (chelsea) boots in Chestnut Brown with a leather sole and green elasticated side panels.

Since wearing Trickers my Grensons have sat unworn in their boxes, the comfort and quality are in a different league. .

Crocodile skin brogues!! Surely the most decadent brogues I've seen and I suspect I'd like a pair but not the price. Ostrich may be equally lovely

Ha ha I tend to enjoy the driving loafers in the summer the blue and red todds being my favourite as there like slippers, regards the sandals you refer too they were an impulse purchase when I was In grenson and hence they've only been worn once ;)

I tend to wear the brogues in autumn/winter and flicker between the cheaney tweed boots and the grenson Fred's in burgundy for comfort but my favourites are the suede tweed cheaney I adore them or the Gucci loafers it's a classic

The special order Henrys. Before wearing them, not a crease in the leather or a blemish on the soles.

Slightly OT but this seems like a good place to ask! Does anyone have some suggestions of black brogue/semi brogue boots with a commando/dainite type sole or similar which I can get for <£150? Need to be pretty hard wearing for regular walks to work. I have a pair of black RM Williams Craftsman which I am keeping for best. Am keen on the Loake Burford/Grenson Fred/Tricker Stow but can't find any of those for less than £200. Have considered things like Doc Martins and Timberland boots but not really smart enough/I'm not that keen.

I have both the Burford and Fred's and if you are thinking formal Fred's would be far too heavy although bomb proof.

I have search my usual and no joy but these look like they could be a good stop gap.

    Thanks!

I am keeping the RM's for formal wear, they just need to be smart ish (i.e. smarter than black Timberland style boots). Clarks ones don't look bad at all for that price but unfortunately out of stock in my size, will see if they have anything similar,.

Having all of them I would not agree that my Fred's or Burford's are any less of a boot than my RW 875's or chukka's.

Don't think RW do a black brogue boot but could be wrong.

Yep, they do the Brogue Ranger, a variant of the Iron Ranger with a wingtip toe... not the most refined brogue boot out there but one I would quite fancy trying out!

Shoe tree question - I have Loake Bedale and Wolf boots and fany some trees. I can't be spending on the cedar jobs so wondered what's decent at a reasonable price. I bought some of the plastic / spring-loaded ones a while back but felt they were impacting the heels inside so threw them away.

    Cheers.

Good spot. A proper sale that is, with a lot of half price reductions on shoes you actually want to buy.

Excellent sale, but then again doesn't Mike Ashley own Flannels now so we should expect a good sale.
