^ different sizes?
A quick heads-up (with a caveat*):
Trickers Country Brogues, in a decent range of sizes, for £179.99 at TK Maxx.

*The Trickers I bought from TK Maxx a while back had to be returned due to damage to the welt. I wouldn't expect these to be pristine/unmarked either...

Loake Chester. 4 years and still going strong.
Quite a few pairs of Trickers & one or two pairs of Cheaney shoes back on TKmaxx if anyone’s up for a punt.

A fresh pair of Tricker's arrived today. Obligatory change of laces to a more interesting colour.
Any experiences of Herring products here? I've just bought the Buxton and haven't worn them yet. Grateful for any real-life experience.

Thanks.
Some of herrings stuff is made by Cheaney amongst others
Their range from Carlos Santos are very good kit too.
Have some Churchill shoes from them that are as good as anything I’ve owned.
Those loake boots are made in India, which they do on their cheaper lines. I have a pair of herring branded, loake, made in England black oxfords and I would say they're a step down from the Loake 1880s I have. 3/4 welt and a glued heel. Reasonable quality full grain calf leather. I wonder if the Cheaney's contract shoes are not so good as their own branded ones.
Thanks folks. I've had some lovely boots but the ones I've always lusted after are Grenson Fred. I have a pair incoming this week and expect them to be far superior to the Herrings which will be returned if I'm correct.

Fred’s are very nice, but they are from Grensons G2 collection made in India.
For £300 I’d rather stretch the budget and get a pair Made in England. Or give it a few weeks and the sales will be on and you won’t need to stretch the budget.
Grenson do a sale as mentioned below and they are usually sub 200 or better still occasionally they do a sample sale I picked mine up for £90 from the sample sale.
Ive also got trickers STOW (sample sales twice a year normally gets posted here) and Cheaneys Edwin who also do an annual sale at brick lane and although technically they are better made and usually more expensive shoes I don't think either are as comfortable as my grensons but then I do have wide feet
I have the grenson Stanley shoes I got them because they were a good fit but they are expensive and they just looked poor quality when compared with Loake 1880s,I didn’t expect them to last long but I have had them years and they have only just started to split so looks can be deceiving And I’ve now bought another pair for when the old one finally fall apart
Wow that is a bargain price for the samples, although guessing a common size 9 (size 8 Grenson?) is probably unlikely in the sample sales!
Seven Wolves in Norwich have 60% off Loakes at the mo.
Picked some 1880 Edwards up for £96.00

Loake have released a hiker style boot that I really want, but Clarks have a very similar looking boot made from Goretex for less than half the price (£125 vs £280). I haven't owned Clarks since I was a kid. Do they make well fitting and well made shoes?

The Loakes are an F fitting which is very narrow. The Clarks are a G fit so more attractive. I have a few pairs of their G fit Desert Boots and they're superb. My black leather ones are more than five years old now and still in excellent order despite being worn a lot. Everything into account I'd go for the Clarks.
These aren't my usual thing but are a G fitting and are pretty bloody lovely I think:

'F' is a medium fitting according to Loake's size guide. The boots in question are made on their '024' last which Loake states is a roomier fit than normal.
As with all shoes & boots, you need to try them on!

Keep an eye on TKMaxx then run Diemme at times, I paid 60 quid for some Vets, massive saving.

Not brogues - but if anyone has small feet (only in 8) - for £80 these are great value:

I thought you had to size down with these from everything I’ve read?
I got the Grenson here:
