Just spent my lunch hour reading this thread. Fantastic looking watch. Clear and simple. Personally I like the green tip to the second hand. I've never owned a PVD watch as most offerings look too busy. I will however be looking forward to the launch of this watch with my credit card in hand.

From what I've seen on other treads regarding a new release, folks are waiting at the computer to "Add to basket".

The nearest counterpart for me being maybe Hamilton's Titanium Field Chrono but like so many others, the simplicity of the Smiths Seafire face trumps all. I would personally include a date window IMHO but regardless I'm really looking forward to future updates and hope this watch becomes available to purchase soon!

    ^^^^^^^ Well, hello beautiful…..

Is it just a change to the hands? Makes it look more rugged and like a dial from a cockpit.

Oh my! Just came in from the PRS-40 thread. This is also a very handsome instrument design and the 4 steps per sec will probably look great!

    Keep up the good work,

Are you going with those hands on the ones in Chris' image? I rather like the minutes hands in Chris' image.

Nice to see an update on this thread

Movement looks interesting and can't wait to see photos of the finished watch.

Nope; with the Miyota in the Seiko tribute having a pick up and go quartz is ideal. PVD watches are hardly dress items.

+1 - I like the idea of quartz for this. This is going to be my grab and go so quartz is ideal although I'm going to have to learn to cope without a date (which would spoil the dial if it had one anyway).

I think that looks fantastic. For some reason I think a plexi on that would look great .
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Excellent decision. There's certainly a place in your inventory for an affordable quartz 'grab-and-go' watch since the discontinuation of the PRS-10 and this one looks superb

Eddie never reveals that but I agree, even a ball-park figure would be good so I can see whether it'll even be a possibility for me. I'd rather deal with any disappointment now than when the watch is actually available.

I really like the clean look of this one. Coupled with the sweeping seconds, I'm sure it will be a succes. Only question is when can we buy it?

PS: Please make it in 40mm.

    Cheers,
    Catalin

I like the PVD look, I'm just always worried about scratching it down to the steel. It eventually happens

I'm a bit confused by the movement end of life indicator.

The movement is supposed to tick 4 beats per second, but on their website it states the EOL is shown by 8 ticks every 2 seconds.

    Can someone explain this please?

I assume it is badly worded and means it jumps 2 seconds every 2 seconds… but I maybe wrong!

Love the watch and looking forward to its release. Hopefully it's not too soon though - am just about to buy a PRS-82 and will need time to save up for a Seafire.

I love the green colour... and it also lends itself to its brother watch, being a bit bigger with a mechanical movement, red lettering and tip of the second hand... to be known as the Smiths Hellfire.

The SMITH speedo hasnt gone quiet, that thread is quite lively as well.

Looking forward to both, whereas the SMITH Speedo is already "purchased" (in my head) whereas the Seafire is still in the "nice to have" department.

    A few thoughts...

    - I like the idea of a manual wind

    - It's be great with a '68 style inner domed and beveled sapphire - or maybe even double domed.

    - Definitely better without a date - don't even mock one up :-)
Agree with you on the date, as I get older I tend to have more appreciation for 'fitness for purpose" in design.

I'd probably buy it sans date but would prefer one.
