Just out of pure curiosity, could you, and/or anybody else preferring it, please say why you like the idea of the dark British Racing Green (?) colour tip to the second hand?

I ask because just like the same colour font "SEAFIRE" on the black dial nearly disappears into it, so does the dark green tip of the second hand as CP rendered it at post #44 earlier in this thread and put up below. As such, the visible white portion of the second hand doen't even come near reaching the hash marks of the second/minute chapter

I prefer the aesthetic of the green tip, and I have never had a problem being able to extrapolate the position of a second hand to the position of the minute indices. In addition the point when the index "disappears" as the second hand passes over it would allow an accurate reading to be made.

So, if this is quartz, will the hands line up with the markers?

I really, really, really hope so. ;-)

P.S. I like the green top second hand version too.

No idea... I don't know why I prefer silver hands on black dials to black on white - I just do :)

Thanks for the responses to that question I asked on the green tipped second hand. I think the reason I don't personally like the idea is because what I like best about this watch aesthetically is the simplicity of it, which would be why I don’t like the “100M” WR rating cluttering or complicating the dial either.

If a green tipped second hand were to be chosen for this one, though, and I otherwise very much liked the construction/specs, etc., this watch was finalized with, I don't think a green tipped second hand would be something that would deter me even if I didn't like that small detail. The same would go for the “100M”.

Just objectively, or trying to be, though, if the second hand of this watch does end up tipped with colour, I think it would go over better with a broader range of buyers if the hi-vis white portion of the second hand were a bit longer than CP rendered previously and went all the way to touching on the dial's second/minute hash marks with only the section of the tip extending "into" the hash marks painted dark green.

Doing it that way I assume would also still, as Neil T described above, make each second/minute hash mark "disappear" in succession as the darkened tip passed over each (given ideal second hand indexing if the movement is quartz as Stooo brought up above)

Ergonomically things are better being lit than blanked out as far as highlighting is concerned. I'm afraid that were I professionally advising on colour separation for legibility purposes, I'd have to say that green and black are perceptually far less distinct than white. From a functional perspective I'd recommend keeping the second hand white or replacing the green with a more distinct colour - yellow or orange for example. I understand that the green has been chosen for aesthetic reasons (and I'm sympathetic to that) if this watch is intended to replicate the functionality of instrumentation then I fear that green is a poor choice and feels like the necessary balance between functional and aesthetic were too much in favour of the aesthetic.

As my eyes get older I find that silvered hands can be difficult to read due to glare and reflection particularly under artificial lighting and depending upon the width of the silvered part of the hands. It is perhaps the only criticism that I'd level against the PRS-10. So, for me, I'd prefer the hand set to be white.

I get a gut feeling, that as Eddie has the Seafire NATOs being delivered soon he has definitely made his decision on the colour of the second hand by now...

I can't wait to see it!

But I have a question: what΄s the reason for the outer line on the black dial, in comparison with the white one?
Personally I prefer the solution without that line.

    Hmmm...

Reminds me of all that I΄ve grown to like on WISdom. Good work!

For me the selling points would be:

    200m WR
    Ceramic case
A tad thicker numbers/slightly narrower hands

    Thanks,

It is a lovely looking thing, and while I know it is far too late to influence anything that may be afoot production wise a suggestion for the contentious green accent; how about transfering the it to the other end of the second hand, making the 'ball' on the short side of the hand green?

It's been fascinating to read this thread in it's entirety in one hit!

Love the design and whole reason of this watch and as I have been on the lookout for an 'all black' watch (excuse technical terms!), have subscribed to the mailshot as suggested above, so as not to miss out on further news of its availability.

I have been seriously considering the Hamilton khaki automatic with black dial and black fabric strap, or the CW Typhoon.

But will now sit tight and await developments.

Am looking forward to seeing this appearing on the Timefactors site, and hoping that I can afford it as and when it arrives! Looks like there is a lot of interest - fingers crossed they don't all get snaffled up by the time I try and place an order...
