I just posted this on the MWF, but thought I would share :)
I was having lunch with a NON-WIS friend the other day, when he reached in to his pocket and said "Do you know what this is and can you help me get this sorted" before handing me a brown paper envelope.
What I found was this!
A Hanhart Cal 40- pretty beaten up (missing the Crown, Stem, and the Pusher button)
No markings of the rear, so I do not know whether it was issued or saw service, but what did surprise me was the serial number. Very early.
Movement looks quite clean and most importantly the balance wheel looks and moves as it should.
Next step is to send to Andy Leftley to get an idea around costs and timescales for a complete overhaul.
A very exciting project just a shame its not mine and no its not for sale.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
