The hound has reached the age where lumps`n`bumps start appearing.
She was taken to the vets where syringe/needle samples were taken and sent off for analysis - inconclusive was the answer...
A biopsy was required for the inevitable further tests and as a general anasthetic would be required for those the vets suggested that the lumps may as well be removed whilst under and the removed tissue sent for the further tests.
She`s fine, trying to keep her still while wounds heal but she`s a beagle - they don`t obey any sort of instruction or encouragement and her determination for seeking out food has not shown any degree of abatement...
We`re self-insuring and the `pot` has taken a £1500 hit, it won`t take too many of these type of instances to empty it but we`re still in credit to the tune of an Omega speedmaster!

This is what happens when you dive into a river then back out again when the air temp is -8°C.....he then decided to dive back in again.

Yesterday Ozzy found a "stick" and after he'd finished playing with it placed it carefully near a hedge...today he checked out where he'd left it and it was still there...he was very pleased with himself!

Not my dog, not even my photo but might interest the dog lovers.

Out walking yesterday and got chatting to owner of couple of unusual dogs. Turns out they were podenco, a Spanish hunting dog from the Canaries - nice looking things, perhaps like a pharaoh hound. She rehomes them because apparently inhumanely put down when useful life is over in Spain.

Bo says Hi. Not bad for a 13 year old girl, she doesn't know she's old.

    Locky.

Half Rottweiler, half Dogue de Bordeaux. He's going to a new family soon, but he's such a lovely boy.

    And VERY relaxed.

5 weeks into our new rescue dog Mabel.
An ex breeding dog we adopted from many tears rescue in S Wales.
She was worth the 8 hour return trip.
Early days but she's a gentle and caring soul. I don't know how anyone can mistreat these animals.

    My kind of dog!

The owners of the shop where I buy my chainsaw equipment have adopted a Berner Senner x Appenzeller. The dog was impounded by the (Dutch version of) the RSPCA. That dog was in a small bench 15hrs/day! "Yeah we didn't know that he would become that big!" was the excuse of the original owners.

Now, he's leading a wonderful life in the showroom and office of the gardening machines shop. Meeting and greeting all customers without hassle and stress. And he is free to move around in the owners' house during the evening and night. Max, as is name is, is a wonderul, relaxed and easy-going dog.

A big applause for his new owners.

I'll take a pic when I'm at their shop.

That's a great story, always nice when a dog gets its proper life.

We got Locky "temporarily" from someone who'd moved to a flat; my fiancée had a house in the countryside so it was ideal. Then we moved in together in the town and she started working longer hours.

He's a bit bored and doesn't get walked enough, so we found a family for him who lost their Rottweiler a few months ago. They can't wait! He'll be massively happy with them.

That’s lovely. They are indeed a sister breed of our Maltese klieb tal fenek (rabbit hounds), AKA pharaoh hounds. The Mediterranean coursing hounds are a quite unique and special group of dogs, very rewarding and occasionally frustrating to live with. I wouldn’t be without my small pack of the little beasts.

    Oh thats wonderful Blackie!
I donate to no more tears and follow them, the work they do is incredible. I cant read the adoption pages on the site as they're heartbreaking.

Im waiting on a home check as im adopting a wee lad who served his purpose in lockdown and then got kicked out. Rest of comment not GD appropriate.

Feeling a bit sorry for herself having cornered a fox in the back garden at 6.00am yesterday. Large puncture wounds top and bottom of her muzzle, on antibiotics, stinks of fox

Yes, she loves to roll in fox poo. Not sure what happened in the garden, lots of howling, wife saw the fox jumping the back gate pursued by the dog who, fortunately, can't manage the gate. There must have been a bit of wrestle given the amount of fox odour the dog had picked up.

This is Benjamin, rescue dog who we went to see on the 18th December and circumstances meant he came home with us that day!He was 4months old so now 5/6months. Billy (Jack Russell) and him are now good buddies. He has no regard for anyone or anythings space or his own self preservation. Nutter, but has settled in really really well and can now go off the lead at beach and park. He is very funny and cool.
