Tilly. Guarding "The naughty table" down at the local brewery.

Had to buy a big jar of biscuits to put on the bar to stop the locals feeding Tilly with Pork Scratchings!

Love my local - Broad Town Brewery. Best beer anywhere /

I'm going to rename my dog from Elvis to 'Rolex' or 'Casio'. I'm amazed how he knows -on the spot- when it's 5:30PM. Like an atomic clock. He walks over to his bench and sits there., waiting for his meal to arrive. A few days ago, he was running fast: 5 mins early. I'm sure that he's complaining on a dog forum that his human cannot tell time.

Loki is exactly the same, knows when it's his feeding time. If you're late with it he sits right in front of you and just stares....like this😁

Anyone familiar with the Schipperke breed? I’m wondering whether they’d make a good family dog alternative to the usual suspects.

I have always had longdogs of some sort. This is 'Tigs', short for Tiger, due to his black stripes under the guard hairs.

    He’s magnificent!

As are all the hounds featured here. Tiger definitely looks like a hound in his prime.

This wee lad came to us last saturday. The name is Urho and he’s a Schnauzer.

Today I took him to the office. First task at work was destroying explosives. Exciting stuff.

Still, maybe the best part of the day was an empty Coke bottle. Might have been the best thing ever.

I’m going to be the best explosive K9 ever

Which schnauzer is it? Standard or giant?
    Very clever dogs either way.
Proper K9 or was that in jest?

Urho is a standard schnauzer. My wife had a giant one when we met. She passed in 2014 when our kids were 2 and 0. We felt the time is now right for a new dog, but a giant would be too big with our kids. A standard schnauzer seemed perfect.

I really want to train him to be a civilian explosive dog to be used in construction. He is mainly a family dog, but as you know a schnauzer will not be a happy camper without proper exercise - mental and physical. I thought that I might as well spend my time with him in a way that might be useful to me at work. Thing is I will need professional help and this is my personal project to be paid for with my own money. I’d get some of it back at work eventually of course, but I’ll need to find out first what kind of initial investment would be necessary. I spoke with a pro on the phone today and we’ll continue by email tomorrow. We’ll see whether it’s viable or do I find myself in an agility course.

Absolutely perfect for both of you. Yes they crave the brain stimulation. I am surprised there are not more of the breed in service.

I wouldn't mind a separate thread about training Urho! For me, that would be interesting to follow. (And I will read out loud your & Urho's adventures to my dog... perhaps he'll learn something).

I would be interested in another thread as well on training as I am due to collect our Miniature schnauzer this weekend.

He's 2 now and I've forgotten what it's like to not walk 9 or 10 miles a day.

I can't imagine how many he runs.

Snow makes playing so much more fun but it’s more comfortable to pee inside.

Anything that grows out of the ground must be eaten.

I’m afraid an Urho thread is out of the question. I’m sure I’ll post here occasionally whatever Urho is up to but I won’t go into too much detail. It’s still a bit unclear what will happen but the K9 pro said that there are many things best kept within the trade. I thought it sounded a bit officious really. How different can it be to training say truffle dogs? In any case I’ll be a good boy and keep my trap shut.

So this is Lumi, who is actually a TZ-er! She was purchased via Brendan from the forum and from the 1st litter his dogs had.
