Cockerpoo, took the kids and I a long time to convince my wife to get a dog. So in the end it was her choice of breed, it wouldn't have been my first choice but now we have her she is great

Out with this hooligan today, we have to limit how much time she has in deep snow, as it clumps to her fur and can envelope pretty much her whole leg like a cast and she has trouble bending her legs. She absolutely loves it though!

Picked this little terror up a week ago. He is a rather lovely 10 week old working cocker spaniel. I'm in the lift trade, so had to call him Otis, didn't I.

We just got a call from the breeder: their Rottweiler is now the mother of a litter of 7. One male will be ours in weeks time.

Anyone has a suggestion for a dog's name starting with 'P'?

My oldest son suggested PAUL or PIM (an old-fashioned Dutch boys name, not a name I can translate into English - the pronouciation in Dutch and English is the same).

    He is splendid :)

I just find it awkward and it reinforces anthropomorphic attitudes towards the dog which are not always helpful. But I don't begrudge people who use human names, I just never do it.

Gorgeous dog, and I envy the wide open space we lack here.

All of mine have “human” names - Jenny, James, Candy and Tommy - although Candy sounds like a stripper in a Bethnal Green boozer.

In self defence they are all rescues that came already named and answering to those names.

Previous dogs I’ve named have included Laddie, Koo, Buster, Tanner, Bourbon, Pie and Blackie.

I did once speak with my daughter Amber who lives in the Isle of Man about her possibly taking on a rescue pharaoh in their local sanctuary- a rare breed to find over there- but the dog was also called Amber and it felt a bit awkward.

Someone who apparently knows about these things told me that dogs should have names with two syllables.

For your Rotty, you could always go for a bit of council estate chic and call him Panzer.

We settled on Presley for the official pedigree papers. His 'normal' name in the family household will be Elvis. You guessed that of course the moment you read Presley.

The nice lady who owns 'mom' and 'dad' sends us pics 2x/day. One around 8AM and one around 8PM. We didn't ask for that, it's just her way of communicating with the new owners. In all, it took us nearly 8 months to find a breeder who was willing to put us on 'the list'. Perhaps it would have been quicker if we hadn't had a list of do's and don'ts. Especially when it comes to the pleasantness of the dog's character. - a big thing when it comes to Rottweilers... We never discussed a price for the dog, but yesterday I asked her what she wanted for a pup. I'd heard rumors of sky-high prices, so I was happy when she told us that the pup is a little under 1000 euros. For a pup from prize-winning parents (both parents multiple times), that's not too bad.

One thing is very important: we're surrounded by people who own horses and we need learn him how to behave in the company of horses.

Harvey has been with us 5 weeks now. We have had two Boxers previously but this little Sprocker is a challenge. The breeder told us about the Sprockodile nickname and he was right, no stop biting from day one. Plenty of chews, antlers etc to keep him occupied and He’s a fast learner so I’m sure we will get there soon. Image1611928641.208024.jpg
Both his parents are Sprockers and we are hoping he fits in with our active lifestyle which I’m sure he will.

Our working cocker was the same, had an appetite for fingers with those sharp puppy teeth. Luckily he grew out of it.

Filled hoof keeps Loki amused for the longest, he's a rather large black Lab so always hungry.....read that as blooming greedy. Anything else and he's eaten it within 5 minutes (although the large Onkies were good but can't seem to find them now).
