New hairdo for the little lady. Finally managed to remedy her lockdown prison haircuts.

Met a new friend at the weekend. She was very good with him, despite him constantly using her tail as a chew toy.

This. I have also said the same before.
Plus, now this gives me another opportunity to post Ted, taking a moment after his usual mischief.

Mave follows MrsV everywhere but doesn't like the bathroom cork flooring so loiters subtly in the doorway.

She enjoys leaves and knotted together old socks (she breaks their necks)

Just know there's a fearless ratter hiding in there somewhere.

Friend of mine has several small pretty dogs who all looks as cute as anything. Seeing the pack of them descending on undergrowth and bramble thickets in search of small furries is at once hilarious and scary!

Mable, enjoying a cuddle by the fire pit last night, you couldn’t have moved her for all the cooked chicken in the world... Ive just noticed the calling card that our resident bully boy pigeon left on one of the tables, I’m off to clean that up!!

No picture but yet my wife's cousin has just spent £1,500 on a Jack Russell. Demand for dogs during lockdown must be unreal. I posted here before about a 300% increase in dog prices during lockdown but was a Jack Russell ever £500?

Friends of mine lost their minature Schnauzer Alfie to old age a few months back and other friends lost their Labradoodle Arthur around the same time to cancer, both now have new bundles of fluff and fur in their lives.

This is Teddy, a black and silver mini-Schnauzer, 9 weeks old and still a tiny little thing. Just starting to overcome his nerves when meeting new people, he'll come up to you with a wagging tail for a sniff and then slowly back off as if to say "I want to know you however I'm a bit unsure". He'll come around.

    Teddy

This one is 9 week old Cockador Frank and, in complete contrast to Teddy, is a total tart already. Always up for a fuss, belly rubs and a play, he's a real heart breaker!

We've just returned from a (first of many i think) visits to a family with rottweilers. They were recommended to us: their dogs are friendly and well-behaving. It was really a 'getting to know you' visit. We were assessed as well: how do the dogs respond towards us. Mom-to-be Gaia and Dad-to-be Earl were very friendly and apparently we (my wife and I) had the correct response to the dogs.

At the end of the visit, we were allowed to be on the list for a pup from Gaia's litter, later this year or early next year. Her first litter. She'll be nearly 3 y/old then. Her owners don't want to have her more than two litters during her life.

We don't mind being scrutinised like this. It's like adopting a child and I think it's good when someone looks at you sees you as-an-dog-owner-to-be.

    M

EDIT: About 24hrs later now. My wife has decided that she prefers a bitch. Which is fine by me. Some of the males we've seen are really massive. And despite all being good-mannered and well-behaving, males a lot of dog to handle! I developed a soft spot for a male called Colin we'd seen at another breeder's farm. His tan colour was almost chocolate and it was a well-built heavyweight. Very impressive. But too much for my wife, I suppose. Colin, my son and I were best pals within seconds. The owner noticed that Colin is normally not an easy guy to approach. "He selects you, not the other way around!" I really would have liked to have a pup with Colin as the dad. Sadly, Colin wasn't up to the rottweiler standards (too dark).

We've received a questionair from the breeder, asking us all sort of things. Like: 'do you prefer and bitch or male' and 'what kind of house/garden do you have?', but also 'are you aware that we insist on the fact that you go to a puppy class with your rottweiler and: '...we urge you to do an obedience class after puppy class.' And 'what puppy class would you like to attend; we are willing to advise you.'

Perhaps over the top? Well, knowing that rottweilers have a certain 'image', it's good that the breeder emphasises the nessesity of proper dog-education. During our visit, the breeder told us -among others- that he won't sell a dog to people living in an apartment and /or with a busy job. "A rottweiler is a working dog. And the owner has to work twice as hard as the dog!" Making clear that it's not an ornament... I like that straight approach.

I only wish more dogs had a good start like this, instead of the game of pot luck with owners.

My mum and stepdad had a massive Rottie, who was the loveliest dog. Genuinely, a big cuddly teddy bear and I miss him to this day, almost a decade since he passed away. He was incredibly strong and I hate to think what an ill-disciplined one would be like on a lead. Excellent that you're going in with your eyes open. :)

My eldest is rather fond of our dogs and last year for her birthday had a "Maggie cake" (the other dog). This year she wanted a "Lottie cake". So, here's her Lottie cake with Lottie herself. Perhaps a slightly serious expression on the cake, but then Lottie is a serious dog. The house doesn't protect itself from cats and the things that are in the TV when it is switched off and people go up the stairs....
