This is Penny, our 2-year old cocker spaniel.
Six months ago I had agreed to foster her (I'm a member of a rescue organisation) and so the plan was to work with her for a few weeks then prepare an assessment so she would go to a suitable forever home. I had already been given a list of the problems the owners had been unable to cope with: 'uncontrollable', constant barking, refusing to obey commands, lead-pulling, aggression, etc. But even when collecting her it was quickly clear to me that a) they had no clue whatsoever as to how to look after a dog and b) Penny had completely dominated them as a result.
Back home the work began. She is certainly a strong-willed girl so it took time and patience on our part to get her to comply, but it was clear that 'inside' she was a sweet and gentle soul that just needed time, boundaries and affection to bring her on. After a few weeks she had responded so well that the decision was made to keep her ourselves and now she's unrecognisable as the 'old' Penny. Happy to meet other dogs, loves the beach and the moors, responds well to commands and only barks briefly at strangers coming to the property. Still a bit 'pully' on the lead but it's coming along.
In short, the 'problems' were her previous owners, not Penny.
A rare sit still moment when out:
She's decided it is her role to greet returning surfers:
And to patrol the beaches to watch out for returners:
The current 'bestest' toy ever (this does change weekly though):
Not too impressed about the passport colour though...

Meet Herbert. Due at home the first week of February.
The most tranquile thing to do is to watch them sleep with no care in the world. I said it before and I'll say it again - this is the best thread on TZUK ever

Great! Keep those Herbert pics coming!
My wife was throwing out some old cushions, but Dot claimed them.
She had a nice rest on them before ripping them to bits.
"Take them if you can".
Cheers,
Neil.
I love this thread! I cannot wait to watch our 2 dogs open their presents tomorrow. Watching them tear paper apart is a simple pleasure.
Cheers,
Neil.
Have a Very Merry Christmas

My two lurchers. Not sure I’d have any other breed now, and sadly, the dogs homes are full of them.

Hurlie out for a walk in the light Christmas day snow.
Gorgeous. Is he a wheaten terrier? I love the grey wispy bits, sadly they always disappear as they get older.
Our schnauzer/bichon at 13 weeks:
And at 4 years:
Out for a Boxing day walk with Poppy
When you said Christmas Dinner in the hotel restaurant a silly hat wasn't the first thing that came to mind tbh!
The JR enjoys a Christmas toy while staffie cross wonders when his next meal is coming.
Found this.

Hurlie likes lying in the sun. She'd just finished a nice long walk
