18 months on from an unexpected diabetes diagnosis - that flew in the face of the really conscientious diet he’d enjoyed over the prior decade - I’m happy to say this old timer is doing great :)

Tell us more: how did you find out, what were the symptoms etc. I think that a lot of us (well, me) haven't realised that diabetes and dogs go together!

He was getting very lethargic, and was drinking increasing amounts of water - in hindsight, two telltale signs. The vet diagnosed things fairly rapidly, after which it has been a case of insulin twice daily and medicated food. I monitor his levels now with Diastix (both better and cheaper than having the vet do bloods), and it’s just a matrix of keeping on top of bodyweight, exercise, and meds. But he’s doing great; it seems that the prognosis for canine diabetes depends a lot on what effort you’re prepared to put in.

Not mine but she’s my best mate’s dog whom I got to know very well. Daisy passed away today and she was so kind and lovable. RIP

    RIP Daisy.
My brother’s dog, same breed, same name, died this year as well. She was also lovely.

Over a year has passed, he is now almost 1 and a half, so I guess he is fully grown .

Just picked him up from the dog groomers for his "haircut!"..Quickly grows though!

He is still as dopey as he was! Lovely dog though, really friendly and no nastiness in him at all!

Just at the foot of that hedge he flushed a pheasant last week, so he checked in case it was back.

Freddie had to have an operation on his knee for a torn cruciate ligament couple of weeks ago. Not a happy bunny. Just allowed to have the collar off now, so looks a bit happier!

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

We picked this little lady up this morning. She seems very well adjusted. Happy to snuggle up and sleep in the car on the way home and confident enough to commandeer Mabel’s toy box.

Monty is 14 today. A bit senile and not as sprightly as he once was.He still loves life and his peeps.

Survivor of a small football sized tumour and has been running with the aid of a pacemaker for the last two years. He seems indestructible, but at his age, it’s only a matter of (borrowed) time.

We enjoy each other while we can. IMG_2979.JPG

These 2 know they're not allowed in the dining room while I'm eating. They are testing the limit with their heads over the line! But, they're typically good boys all round...

Fox poo has to be the worst, Loki has rolled in it a couple of times. Only thing for it is a full shampoo and a hose down🙄
And yes, they're always happiest when mud up😁

It's been a not so fun evening. This little sh1t decided to steal some dark chocolate, a trip to the vet to induce some vomiting and a nice £220 bill. At least he's feeling very sorry for himself, he can't bring himself to look at me!
