This guy joined the family a couple of weeks ago and is settling in nicely.

Dot is finding the heat a bit trying - she won't get out of it though!
Cheers,

After an operation on his knee cap Freddie is getting back to serious business.

Daisy at almost ten months.
To be honest we were struggling with her, when we had our last lab (Dizzy who passed away almost three years ago now) I was home a lot more and I trained her, the kids were also living at home then and they’d play with her 24/7 and wear her out.
When we got Daisy I’d been planning on semi-retiring but it didn’t work out that way and all the responsibility fell on my wife…
We couldn’t house-train Daisy, she was an absolute nightmare on a lead, her recall was non-existent and she was, to be honest, an attention seeking bitch when she wanted to be.
After I came home from work to find my wife in tears for the third time ‘cos her and Daisy had been stressing each other out all day I though “this isn’t fair on either of them” so we sent Daisy to a residential training school for three weeks.
She’s been back home for a month or so now and she’s a different dog, calmer, more responsive and obedient and her life (as well as my wife’s) is so much happier and less stressful.
Now, we simply wouldn’t be without her.
10 months old now and couldn’t be without him.

6 months old this weekend. His new, shiny-white big teeth make it possible (finally) to take home big branches.
Elvis already has quite a collection in the rear garden, including the ‘big 4’: ash, oak, beach, birch.

After a week of sailing, it's back on the treadmill again in the garden: cutting wood. With Elvis helping of course.
It looks like Elvis will no allow that I’’ll leave him again. He had a great time with my wife and youngest last week. Still, he won’’t leave my side since I returned. And he responds a lot quicker when I call him.

Looked after this little fella last week for a friend of mine. Was an absolute joy, cracking dog.

I look after Frank the daxi from time to time, and he was recently in an ad for Barbour. His fees were reputedly a year's supply of yak milk chews.

Best mates.
Like two kids in the house, they can be annoying. First, one bullies the other and then the other way around.
The cat shows a kind of death contempt from time to time trying to eat from the Rottweiler’s bowl while the dog is eating! He allows it!

Love this thread, especially the shots of dogs and kids... It's lovely to see the "you can't have a XYZ with young kids" proven wrong....
Honestly mate I consider us fortunate in that we could afford to send Daisy away for three weeks, my wife's 54 (I think?) and I'm an arthritic-hipped 52, and when walking Daisy we see so many older/middle aged people that have got another dog after losing one that they had when they had kids at home, and every single one of them says they've struggled.....
I know lots of lockdown-first-time-owners will have struggled too (and possibly re-homed) their dogs but I do think there's a fair few owners that just forgot how hard it is to train a dog properly.
If we ever get another dog, she'll be sent for training as soon as she's old enough, I honestly think it's the fairest thing for the dog and us, Daisy (and we) are just so much happier now.
Dot decided to jump in my wife's egg swing seat.
Cheers,
Neil.
Lost my Doberman last year to cancer but still amazed how the cat was definitely in charge in the household at all times and the 40kg dog would definitely never argue. Ever. In fact every now and then the cat would take a swipe just to remind her who was boss. Best friends most of the time though.

Charlie went home today, so one last walk with his new mates, typically they both rolled in something unpleasant and stinky. Just enough time for a quick wash and brush up before he was collected.
The older one passed 3 weeks ago. He was 15.5 and it was his time. Great do, never be forgotten.
The black & white, Purdey joined us in January, she is now 9 months. The brown & white, Steed, two weeks ago. He is 15 weeks. They are double trouble and chaos reins!
