Nice lad. And he has his priorities sorted!

I won’t mind seeing more pics of him (different pose?)

    Cheers!

I lost my old boy at 15 almost 2 years ago, swore I wouldn't have another. But with you being a fellow Bully owner you will understand, there is no other breed!

Racing greyhounds are meticulously “catalogued” dogs and he is tattooed, meaning we know his entire history stretching back many generations. He has a few very famous racing dogs in his family history, and it really has been fascinating to learn all about it.

But, ultimately, he is a lovely pet and seems to enjoy his new life with us. He is a bit of a celeb around here now, and has many female admirers! Greyhounds are, on the whole, gentle and loyal dogs and make for great pets after they have retired.
A friend of mine adopted a retired racing greyhound, as you say, they are beautiful dogs.

Coincidentally, she lost the use of her sofa the evening of the day the dog came to live with her, which is quite common I understand… :-D

They are certainly a breed apart Tone! Once a Bully owner, always a Bully owner.

I've had a Lab, Dobe, mixed, Bulldogs, Rotts and none of them comes anywhere near EBT's for energy and comedy value.

Just as a little update, this is the piece of stick that the surgeon removed from between her eye and socket, it went right around the side, and that’s my thumb for size comparison.

This is her about 10 days after, the cone of shame is making her feel pretty sad I think!

Bill so far is just north of £7k, thank goodness for insurance, and fingers crossed she’s going to keep the eye.

Unlucky to have such a freak accident, but lucky that the outcome wasn’t far worse!

Wow that's awful. So pleased she seems to have come through it.

    Scary stuff.

Our dogtrainer warned us for accidents in the woods and also if the dog picks up sticks and runs with them. Dogs getting impaled…

Yes, throwing sticks for dogs can cause some bad injuries, one of my good friends is a vet and it keeps him busy at times.

Our other dog is a spaniel and he’s obsessed with balls, fun until he misjudges a catch and charges headlong into the hedge following it. Makes me even more nervous now!

I’ve had dogs all my life and this is the first time one has ever been injured like Jet, and just in the garden too!

My previous spaniel was a working dog, he was lemon and white and looked so cute, but would crash through brambles, hedges and undergrowth when retrieving. How he never got more than scratches I'll never know. My current spaniel will go round tall grass rather than go through it! We're all different.

    Hard as nails!

    Soft as..

Lovely dogs! I’d never had a spaniel until my wife got a working cocker, they enjoy going for walks for miles and he’s a really affectionate and intelligent dog.

I gave up shooting about 30 years ago, but did have a couple of working labs back then, and haven’t given up the working dogs or training them. I’ve had a couple of Jack Russell Terriers along the way as well, both little characters!

Similar here, his retrieves consist of slippers and socks when available!

    Red face

Some great pics of many dogs, although my bias is obviously the labs.

    Thanks for sharing.

Our Brodie had Round 5 for his chemo last week and a rerun of the tests, scans, bloods etc.

The good news is bleeding from the initial symptom (now declared as a UTI) has stopped. Cancer isn’t growing or metastasising so we keep going with Rounds 6-8 and then we wait.

He has really good days and then not so good ones when he’s quiet and downbeat. Understandable really.

But generally we are pleased as is the Royal Dick Vet - irony is there.

Thanks for all the support by way of open and private messages and donations on the JustGiving page my daughter has started for him. We are deeply grateful.

Jim and The McBs including Brodie!!

That’s horrific - poor wee bugger but ever so lucky.

Hope the recovery is full and speedy!!
