All, please say 'Hi' to Rye :)
She's been great so far. She was in a litter of 8 and as well as her mum there was another weimy, and 2 vizslas in the family home. So she's not been phased by our 3 so far.
But I'm realistic about the amount of time and effort puppyhood will take. But it'll be worth it!
I've told Oskar - our 3.5 year old vizsla boy - that she's going to kick his ass :)
Either Nugget is running or having a naughty dream.
Rye struggling to settle in with her Vizsla brother :)
Kara my Chihuahua being chased by Mabel
Rye, growing up fast. almost 12 weeks (I think...).
Good Choice Tom, Been very good for us

Ooh, didn't know you had weimaraners too. We've a Vizsla plus 2 older 'bitsas'. too.
I'll let you know how we cope....although the Viz (we had from 14wks old as a 'rescue') was a challenge, so I am hoping we will manage with the German version from decent stock :)
Yours are stunners!
Waiting for the vet to visit and send my darling Holly on her final journey. My little whippet companion was diagnosed with a badly scarred liver back in October 2013. The vet thought it would only be a matter of months but since that diagnosis we've had 20 good months together. Sometimes I could even forget for a while that she had this chronic condition.
But this last week the condition has caught up with her, so it's time to do the right thing.
We could have another 10 years together and it wouldn't be a day too long for me. She's my best friend, my constant companion and the thought of letting her go is breaking my heart. Been through this scenario so many times in the past with other much loved lurchers and whippets.
Holly, thanks for adopting me and making my world complete. Gold bless you, sweetheart.
Sorry for the spam....but see below for a rare shot of all 4 of our dogs (1 of the 4 cats has sneaked in too...):
Hi, Tom. Thanks for the kind words. I've owned whippets and lurchers since I was a child so I've been through this scenario too many times. Together for almost eight years and then suddenly ended. That absence is hard to accept.
Yes, it'll get easier to bear. And there'll come a time when another hound will find me, possibly when I'm least expecting it.
Thanks again.
Really sorry to hear - I suppose it`s one of those things as "repeat` dog owner you have got to accept and contend with - but I`ve never got used to it.
It`s 5 years since we lost our Cavalier - the pain has long gone but the good memories are just as bright!
If ever we were to get a third dog to go with our Vizsla`s - it would be a whippet!
Barney says hello, he is a far happier chap today now that the weather has cooled down. He doesn't do 30 degrees.
Thanks for all the kind words on Holly's passing last week. Much appreciated.
Also want to say there are some truly wonderful dogs throughout this thread. I've only ever owned lurchers and whippets, but there some wonderful breeds represented here. Dogs really do enhance our lives in so many ways.
Rye (Weimaraner) settled in....Oskar (Vizsla) wondering when she's leaving...:)
Our two rescue spaniels, Jess and Sasha. Despite being the older and smaller dog, Jess is certainly the top dog of the two. Sasha was out-of-control aggressive when she arrived 18 months ago, but is now a completely different dog and they are the best of pals together.

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Not a dog owner, cat owner.
Cats generally live longer than dogs, which is good. But you have even more time to bond with them, which is bad.
I had to have my little mate put down last year at the age of 17. I still tear up about it. He had his own chair in the garage where he used to sit while I was working on my bike. He used to ride in a pannier. In the end I had to get rid of the chair, it was a constant reminder.
The new one is a bit of a character and kind of makes up for it, but you never forget the good ones.
Sorry to hear of your loss, I still tear up thinking of my last Weimy and he's been gone over 5 years! Not having any kids the dogs take that place and you get so bonded with them. We said we'd have a break afterwards and 3 days later I said I'd have to sell the house or get another dog as the void was unbearable.
i dont know how to upload videos.. but if you own a dog and an iphone.. try videoing them in slow-mo.
hours of endless fun :-)

Update shot of Rye (weimaraner puppy) with Oskar:). I think she's 16 weeks old now.
The latest addition to our family a cockapoo called poppy we pick her up in two weeks
Here's my two. Bess (on the left) - springer/lab cross and Bernie - staffy/whippet cross we think ( rescue dog).
Rye is looking all grown up now. Is Oskar still wondering when Rye will be leaving?
Our routine has been disrupted over the last week - Amy has started her first season at 17 months. Alfie is still getting his off lead time at the park and Amy is having to make do with walks around the streets and down the canal. Amy is distraught when I take Alfie out!
This little fellow has been a long time coming. We've been looking around for a rescue dog for a while and the pickings in Berlin have been thin unless you want a Staffie. Finally we got word that a friend of a friend was having difficulty juggling their business, child and their dog so we've adopted him. He's a very athletic ten and will probably cost us a fortune in vets fees before long but he's fitting in rather well.

Beautiful. I love the way big dogs have absolutely no idea how big they are :)
Cheers mate. That was coming out my car at night and walking past the kitchen window. He's got a fantastic temperament, but a bit off putting for folk looking to do naughty things!
He shouldn't really get up on the settee, but here his is, like lord of the mannor!

Benton our springer was rather surprised to find himself on a pedalo on Lake Annecy last week:
