Went into the local bike shop for a turbo tyre and came out with this. Perfect for what I wanted, general arsing about on the road and mud. Already forgotten about the grief I've got from the wife.Malc
Did Swinley again yesterday with a couple of mates. Getting more confident on the downhills now, keeping up with them on their full suspension bikes - me on a hardtail!

RS30s are around £140, Keo max 2 carbons are around £110 hence my surprise. The wheelset is the single biggest factor on performance after the frame and is where most people would spend upgrade money. That said the RS30s are a good set of wheels to start with.
Anyhow, you have a lovely bike with good components so get out and ride and enjoy!
(and practice the clipping in and out in a soft place away from traffic. One of my mates came spectacularly short by forgetting he was clipped in right outside the cafe in Richmond Park to the mass amusement of 50 gathered riders.)
this is mine
Diamondback . i have upgraded the disk calipers with good Shimano , and got rid the noname mtb style tires in favor of Maxxis :)
It is a mountain bike and people say its no good for road use but to hell with that i ride it everywhere :) too bad my work place is too far to take the bike with me

+1
What are those wheels and tyre's? They look very stealth.
The wheelset looks like Mavic R-sys SLRs with their matching Mavic tyres.
Very nice. I like the way the logos on both match and are completely understated.

I just picked this up last week. A 1972 Bob Jackson. Frame looks lovely, original bars and headset. Horrible wheels, tyres, brakes and paint job, but it does have 70's Campag' gears and cranks. I don't live far from Bob Jacksons so will get it resprayed there in the spring. It rides lovely although as my other bike has compact gears, these gears are taking some getting used to. I don't see me taking on many climbs with it!!

Cheers Josh!
Fondriest TF0
Mavic R-Sys Slr with clinchers (had thought about hand built but got a good offer on these)
Fizik Antares saddle
Pro integrated bars/stem
Campag record compact with 12-29 (swithered with semi-compact but then thought who am I kidding! Want this for big alpine days!)
Still to put Arundel mandibles in gloss on and then she's finished:)
Pity about the fat bugger on top! In answer to the question 83kgs and 6'2.
Nice Jackson. Here is mine, made about 1990. I purchased it NOS to replace a frame that snapped on my commuter. Bars, stem, brakes, chainset, front derailleur, seat pin all come from the original Dyna Tech that I bought about 25 years ago! I do about 65% of my annual mileage on this, all the way from when the clocks change in Nov until about June when the best bike comes out of hibernation.
And before anybody says, yes, that is a low gear (39x27), it's hilly down here in Kent and I can't manage on a 39x23 like when I was 25![]()
Nice I like the paint job. What is the "best bike"? At the moment mine is a Van Nicholas Yukon. But I am on Ricky's waiting list for a Feather! http://www.feathercycles.com Should arrive Aug/Sep next year.
My new (to me) carbon beauty...

my weekend ride is a 2011 rocky mountain team vertex, light as a fly and beautiful to boot. Definitely all the bike I could ever want I'm doing the 100 km London bike ride next year and looking forward to it.
If anyone wants a single speed / fixie I am going to sell my Langster next week so first dibs to forum folk of course. Ill photo it tomorrow if I get time
Following on from my Scott Strike build, something racier for my next effort...
Nearly finished anyway.
A few of mine here.
Independent fabrications steel 29er in the foreground, which is the bike I spend most of time on.
I live on the South Downs and singlespeed seems to suit me.
Cyclocross bikes are way cool on bridleways, and my new specialized cruz is in the background ( recently built from bits off my Kona jake )
Cotic hemlock for days where I need gears and suspension.
Also got a Merckx corsa in Motorola colours with original 7400 dura ace
Another Principia road bike
And an old school Marin Eldridge grade I have just had resprayed - as this was my first proper bike
Oh and a fixee I ride to work on..
I would probably have loads more if i had the room.
Bikes are cool, and relatively cheap compared to watches.
I have done quite a bit mountain bike racing, mainly longer stuff, e.g. Transalp etc, and will always ride me bike if all is well.
Keep riding everyone
J.
You win best saddle award mate!
great eclectic collection of bikes too btw!
Found one of the Principia
Only tend to ride road bikes on holidays, and this hardly gets used.
Fast though, and impressed with the wheels on it.
All my bikes have flite titanium saddles.
Furry saddle cover was an error, as I thought it was plastic and was to be used when I park my bike outside office..
Here's my Focus Izalco Pro 2.0 with Di2...
Eek - uploaded with Tapatalk and it's wrecked the picture with compression - will upload another one this evening :)
I recently bought a Whyte Cambridge Varsity hybrid for commuting duties (apologies for the rubbish photo) through my employers CTW scheme. It seems well built with a decent spec & I like it very much. Unfortunately my wife has never learnt to ride a bike so most/all of my riding is done on the 10mile commute to work - my friend has recently bought a bike & started cycling to work as well so we may go on a couple of jaunts together when the weather improves.
The Whyte replaces (& semi-retires) my mid-late 90's Scott Endorphin Elite; which I bought from this very forum about 3 years ago - used for commuting until the Whyte arrived. I've dismantled my old bike (a self built mtb using an alloy Dave Hinde frame & various components sourced from all over the shop) & plan to use the wheels/gears etc from that to freshen up the Scott which is starting to show its age a bit. It's a fantastic bike to ride - it's more responsive & sharper handling than the Whyte but not as fast due to weight, gearing & rider fitness - there don't seem to be any issues with the frame cracking (unlike some I've read about) which is good to know :)
:)

Those endorphins used to be the mutt's nuts. I was gutted when Scott stopped making them.
I'll have to keep an eye on ebay to see if one pops up.
After a cyclocross bike myself to keep the wear and tear of my mtb for simple routes. Would love a single speed but dont think the fitness is quite there yet![]()
