    Alan Whicker's final journey :-(

Just heard the sad news of Alan Whicker's death. Really enjoyed his travel programmes, and he inspired me on my travels.

    RIP Alan Whicker

Very sad news - he had an amazing like and I can highly recommend his autobiography from his time in the army "Whicker's War".

What a shame, a national institution.

A good innings and he had a good life.

    RIP Alan Whicker.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

His program's inspired me as a child to want to visit other countries. There are not many people that you can say that they inspired you to action.

I agree. He made international travel seem matter-of-fact and accessible.

    A great man passes.

Not a great fan of his work personally but 100% agree on Whicker's War - superb. (Though I've only seen the DVD version).

Don't be too hard on yourself Mr. Monitor; I was making an attempt at humour.
I did once hear of someone who didn't appreciate my humour. Hard to believe I know, but it did happen.
