All the sub dials have a lot more numbers than a standard Speedsonic?

The 30-minute hand does not seem to have moved with the Chrono seconds

Is it a jumping minute / jumping hour chrono movement?

Based on what he wrote he seemed to be waiting for an offer he couldn't refuse from the Omega Museum...so either he didn't get it (they already have one of the twelve, how many more do they need?) and it's a bad memory to revisit this thread as he thought he would be making a ton of money on the flip, or he did and he doesn't want to discuss the offer, but since he wasn't shy about it in the first place, the former seems more likely, just a guess of course. Either way it's not great to have left this thread in limbo.

188 0002, the SeaSpeedy chronometer? Double the fun, twice the movements...

Nice find. I feel a bit for the seller on eBay though who has lost a lot of money.

He hasnt lost a thing. He never had 'a lot of money'.
The watch may have been potentially worth more than he sold it for but thats all what it was, potential.
The value in the watch is in the knowledge in spotting it and maximising the potential, there may be only a tiny tiny number of people who would have spotted it for what it was.

I seem to remember a rare prototype Seamaster/Speedmaster for sale on this very forum recently.

I wonder what happened to it?

Yes that is fair comment; still, you'd be a bit gutted to discover you'd under sold a gem in ignorance ... fair play to the OP for spotting it and taking not an insignificant punt to buy it ... congratulations to him ...

I had one and TBH it reminded me of a Casio.

Rather cheap feeling as opposed to the mech variety.

And you are the winner, except mine doesnt have the velcro strap as I hate those strap, movement engraved with the simple number 12 and original Star manufactured case (USA), note the lack of swiss made on the dial also as any NASA test watch had to be over 50% made in the USA. They sent 16 Speedsonic with the radial dial to STAR for casing and dial along with 18 11003 automatic Speedmasters, some of which had radial dials and some standard MKIV dials

I'm in thread resurrection mode as a result of the new Alaska Quartz thread today. Does anyone know the latest news about this particular watch please? What was the final response from Bienne?

Seriously though, a great tale of someone doing a hell of a lot of investigative work and coming up trumps. I enjoyed reading this sooo much earlier this year and genuinely cannot wait to hear what news you may have.

I've sent the OP a PM politely requesting an update, so hopefully the thread will be updated in due course and we can all learn the outcome.

I assume there's a good reason why there's no update. For legal reasons or to comply with the terms of a sale agreement perhaps.

Depends on the terms. I don't know, so would just be guessing.

It seems the OP has either chosen to ignore my PM or had that course of action enforced upon him for some reason. I was expecting at the very least perhaps a message saying "I can't update the thread for legal reasons" but no reply at all is disappointing.

I'm guessing he has his reasons and perhaps we should trust him and let this drop.

Maybe "chosen" is unfair? Maybe he entered into an agreement which requires absolute silence on the subject, such that even the answer you suggest you might have expected is forbidden?

OK, fair enough. I'm struggling to think why a "legal agreement" would prevent even a "Sorry, unable to reply" type message, but I've edited my post now to allow for that possibility.

It was only curiosity which led me to message him originally and as I have far more pressing matters to worry about at the moment it's really not important (to me) in the overall scheme of things.
