Thread: MTM Air Stryk - Anyone got one?

MTM Air Stryk - Anyone got one?

I saw a watch this week that I really liked called Air Stryk by MTM Special Ops. It reminds me of of the B1 (very slightly), but more casual and perfect for the weekend.

I know nothing about the MTM brand. They seem to specialise in military watches, but not sure if that's true or they really do.

Has anyone got one or had one? If so, what do you think?

New one is a little pricey for me, but used one could be perfect.

They're the company that sells the watches with LED torches built in I think? I remember reading those particular watches are massive and heavy. This looks cool though.

    Things I like about it:

    Its black
    its an ana-digi

Things I don't like about it:

The faux military campness - "special ops" on the dial? Really?
The stupid name - Stryk? It's like an 80s rock band from Germany
    it's 950 bucks

My summary: avoid unless you want your mates bursting into laughter in the pub.

Had one for all about two seconds. I found it too heavy, larger than I like, and if the whole spec ops thing felt silly.

    Was well made though

All good points and I agree the 'Special Ops' thing really puts me off. Would be fine if I was Special Ops, but that's about as far removed from being sat in an office as you can get.

I wear a Suunto Core all black when not in the office and that fits the bill better, so I guess I'll stick with that. I was just getting bored, you know how it is.

May be I'll go for a Suunto Elementum instead.

Love Suunto, I have a Vector all black.

    (Understand the boredom part too...)

Was it MTM who done the "24" edition watch from the TV series? Looked OK but seemed expensive for what it was to me

I had an MTM Blackhawk (the 24 watch) before I got into watches properly and it was a decently made watch. Very solid bracelet and nice finishing. Bastard heavy though as others have suggested.

Your justification speaks volumes - not a watch for people who know a thing or two about watches. The whole 'special ops' thing is a bit gimmicky.

Bought a Silencer on a whim, mainly out of curiosity.
as has been said above very solid well made. In reality the special ops text is quite small on the dial and not too noticeable on the wrist. The Silencer is ana digi too but you can only see the digital display when you press the buttons - otherwise you wouldn't know it's there. I'll try and post a pic to show what I mean. I had a gasgasbones made for it which suits it quite well.
if you fancy it go for it - don't be put off by the special ops thing

My boss had the 24 Blackhawk, very well made but sooooooo heavy! I think it's one of those watches that ends up back in the watch box and then after a few months you wonder why! We've all done it ;)

Yup. "Specializing in military watches" usually means "not a single active serviceman buys our watches".

Can anyone imagine someone working in special ops, I mean actual special ops, buying a watch that advertises what they do. Not flying, or speeding, or mastering the sea, or any of that easy stuff, but actual special ops?
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
