Totally top bit of boy's toys kit

Just recieved my parcel today with the most excellent and most expensive torch I have ever bought. Superb tactical light, self defense and actually works as a stupidly bright light too.

I always carry a tactical torch on a night. Blinding a would be attacker and a swift kick to the balls ... Excellent defence.

I don't get it? What differentiates it from the other hordes of cheap Chinese flashlights that can be had for $20.

But basically I got it for the reason we all do every thing that we do, because I chose it and that is a good enough reason for me

I've never seen so many uses of the word 'tactical' on one web page.

I hope you got the blue lens that lets you see blood trails in the dark?

I would have one, but sadly it says they were designed by police officers, for police officers and I'm a civilian.

I have something similar, but it was about 28 quid on special. Neat little torch. My cat doesn't like it when I tactically disable him with the tactical strobe though. Tactically.

Aye don't see it used much on Eddies site, then again I don't suppose you strap many of his watches to guns or smash thin in peoples faces if they get unruly and I bet the ones that use the torches for that wont wear a pretty and delicate watch

I'm willing to bet my tactical reputation on the fact that 99.99% of these torches are sold to people who neither attach them to guns nor smash people's faces in.

I had a tactical dump yesterday, that's about as close as I get.

Haha I am sure you are at least 99.99999% accurate, as for the tactical dumping my cat occassionally does that in the garden, is that where you did it too?

I have a tactical torch, actually attached to a gun... I must be part of the 0.0000000001% that actually use it where it is supposed to be? :P

The wife will have a tactical vomit on a night out.. does that also count?

Why not just buy a mini maglite and a large knife. Then you've got all the bases covered.

what? really? I thought this was a forum for gentle souls with a shared interest. Are you telling me that Trolls abound, thank you for the friendly assistance I am sure the moderator will pick up any unfriendliness. I am sure Mr. Mattg was being complimentary and not offering insult. If I was a tool ( I am sure this is merely some sort of psychometric testing) I imagine myself to be durable an sturdy and capable of withstanding much abuse. I of course wonder equally what sort of tool he might be, perhaps a lightweight one maybe. Thanks for the heads up Mr. Dunce

You seem to have misunderstood my post as the torch you bought is Chinese made.

As for me, well i quite like my HDS Rotary.... which is made in Merica'.

I refuse to buy anything marketed as "tactical", or anything made from a "technical" material.

They are meaningless words, that seem to be enjoyed by those who have action man fetishes.

A tactical torch, seriously? To go with tactical trousers made from technical fabrics?

Don't get mired in tactical minutiae. You need to think at the strategic level.

    This.

It amuses me greatly the number of "tactical" anoraks (in the coat sense), torches, man-bags etc that crop up on here (and quite often get sold before the tags even come off, let alone before they end up being used behind enemy lines on some kind of "black op")

What does anyone actually do with this stuff?

This thread is definitely a good giggle.

I think Jim Banana would use a tactical flashlight, if he ever returns from his last mission.

I was once given the SAS Survival Handbook for a present. It told me how to survive on bleak moor, at twenty degrees below by eating worms and making a shelter out of moss.

If I ever found myself in such a position, I think I would probably call for help on my mobile phone instead, or just top myself quietly.

I once had the pish ripped out of me for rocking up as a youth to a night trek/orienteering challenge in my bright blue and dayglo yellow waterproof. All the cool kids of the time were wearing ex-Dutch army coats, washed to a faded muddy beige. When the weather turned horrid and the group leaders scrambled to find us, guess who was sitting in the team minibus with a cuppa hours before most of the other unfortunates...

In that instance I would say that my naff parka was very much 'tactical' :D

Bashing someones head in with a maglite is civilised.

Nowadays īcivilisedī is a joke, a travesty.

If you always carry it, doesn't that make it a strategic torch...?

    This thread is funny!

And if you carry multiple torches you can use them at operational level to overcome darkness.
