Anyone for a beautifull UN for a fair price?

Check this one out from a trustworthy dealer.

What a beauty, and recently serviced as well.
Some nice complications by the genius Ludwig Oechslin.

Mmmm.... that does look very nice indeed. I do like the "Home Time at 9" idea too.

I've always had a softspot for the brand, since having once owned the Marine Chronometer 1846.
They have lost their way a bit these days, but this watch is still a very good looking piece with a sensible size IMHO.

I'm always interested in a UN and was keen to open the link, unfortunately (or fortunately) I already have it!

I also have one. They are indeed a very beautiful watch. Also the best bi-directional GMT function ever made, thanks to the incredible work of Ludwig Oeschlin.

That really is a stunning piece. Think they got the height wrong though! What sort of money do these go for in UK/Europe and what movement is it... Base ETA?

UN's not the easiest to get over here. I've generally always got mine on my travels. Harrods have them, and I'm sure I've seen them in WOS on Bond Street, after that I can't think of anywhere else. UN have now employed a UK manager so presumably his job will be to make them a little easier to get hold of soon.

I'm sure that the GMT is an ETA, although I'd be quite happy to be corrected.

They may have a new UK manager but Selfridges stopped stocking UN last year. Chatila are a friendly UN stockist though.

Base caliber ETA 2892, but in this case the brilliant complications are all in-house (GMT and big date), and designed by Mr. Ludwig Oechslin, who is known for finding very clever simple solutions for all sorts of complications.

That really is rather nice I think.

£2k or thereabouts? Hmmmm. I've seen less tempting pieces at that price, that's for sure.

<off to find out more about these>

It is a base ETA 2892 . However the kit is supplied in around 75 parts The finished UN movement is made up of over 140 parts Possibly more inHouse than a lot of inHouse movements. UN have always been very honest about their movement derivations .

That's a great price on one of my fave Ulysses. A beautifully simple complication, if that's not a contradiction in terms.
