Yes, I'd think it would sell for a lot closer to the original purchase price - or less - just because it's so damned old. Who wouldn't rather have a shiny, new watch, maybe an Invicta?

That movement looks awesome. The fact it was made over 100 years ago blows my mind.

Can't be worth much. It doesn't have Rolex on the dial.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

It would be better with a nickname like "The Hulk" or "Bumblebee". That would make it sound classy.

Thanks for the info on the Patek. Doubt it will ever see daylight though. It'll just end up locked away doubling in value.

Funny, Del Boy and Rodney immediately sprung to mind!!

I suspect it will fetch rather more than the estimate though.

The engraving he's had done on the back will surely knock a lot of value off and will make it less desirable.

Stunning, I'm guessing this is going to sell for a lot more than the estimate !

I'm guessing Patek will scoop this up.

If my numbers come in tonight they'll have serious competition...

For some reason that's less than I thought it would go for.

If I hadn't pulled the trigger on a Casio I'd have been all over this.

How the hell has it stayed in such perfect condition?

According to the Christies video on the Hodinkee link they reckon it did not leave it's box for a century-

Amazing that a family can keep the existence of that watch secret for so many years...considering the family wealth
maybe ownership of the watch was simply no big deal....

not keen on the monogram on the back...think I'll wait for the next one to come up without.

Amazing movement! Great story to have it hidden away for so long and with those documents to go with it. Gorgeous.
