Thread: What are you listening to?

  1. #201
Been listening to Joe Bonamassa lately & went to see him last week in Crawley - really great modern blues guitar player, a bit like early Jeff Healey - Check out Sloe Gin as a great introductory LP if interested.

Also got a great LP called Cassandra by newish prog rockers 25 Yard Screamer recently - really excellent if you like modern prog.

Have the Black Crowes new LP on order - going to see them in fairly soon.

Was just rummaging about in the loft, (looking for a couple of old 5 & 1/4" floppy disk drives  :?: ), and I found a number of LPs I'd put away years ago.

Decided to play the Western Flier album, Hapshash and the Coloured Coat, which dates back to 1969.

    Mono, but absolutely brilliant. :D

Tony McPhee was a class act, but who'd have believed Mike Batt would go on to be a Womble?
    Best Regards - Peter

I hate being bipolar, its brilliant.

Not heard of that, but most bands from that time are worth listening to (Beatles apart) .. as for me I've currently got this lot on rotation:

    The Jam - Extras
    Small Faces - Autumn Stone
    Kinks - Face to Face
    Kinks - Something Else

For a chap with cloth in his ears your rotation list isn't too bad Vince, three out of four isn't a bad score!

Today we are mostly listening to...

Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight

A departure from their usual style but on the whole a good album though for the hardened Linkin fans it can take a while to adjust!

Following the link to The Whip's performance on YouTube, I found myself getting and listening to their (debut?) album "X Marks the Destination". Easy Listening Alternative (if such a thing exists) in the best possible sense of the expression.

So my normal score there then! Be careful though too much hope can be a bad thing .. 2 weeks to go then off to see The Eagles (again), got tickets for 2 consecutive nights here in Stockholm .. so me thinks I'll have to dig out Hotel California, Desperado, The Long Run & When Hell Freezes Over.

    But presently:

Bowie at the Beeb - David Bowie
    Songbird - Eva Cassidy
Searching For The Young Soul Rebels - Dexys Midnight Runners
Lets Get it On - Marvin Gaye
    American Pie - Don McClean
Forty Licks - The Rolling Stones

Black Crowes is very good, just bought it last weekend.

For me it's The Clash "London Calling" and "Combat Rock". By golly how contemporary are the lyrics of "Know your rights" :(
