Twelve days until Deep Purple's new release. The guys are closing in on 70, this will be their final one.

You made me want to play Made in Japan. What a band. Are you going to one of their gigs later this year?

Not sure. Last time I saw them was some five years ago and it was rather very disappointing. I had an invitation to see them from a VIP lounge (!!?!) when they played in Luxembourg in November but I politely declined given my last experience. Autumn 2013 is probably the last chance to see anything decent from Deep Purple and given my long history with them I will probably go.

Agree totally - Could have chosen to deviate quite a bit but instead kept so close to the originals - I think it hasn't aged as a result - Great soundtrack overall to be fair

Classic FM is absolutely delightful this evening.. comes nicely together with reminiscent of afternoon's sunshine and warmth, complete with a snifter of Port and TZ-UK at hand

"Transformer", Lou Reed obviously, but Mick Ronson on lead guitar ( and piano, recorder, backing vocals, string arrangements and he produced it too!)

They play the same instrument I guess! Seriously though, Bill Evans played with amazing chord voicings, unheard of really before him. His understanding of harmony and phrasing was profound. To my ear, Nero is a great technician but Evans had heart and soul pouring out of every note. Evans has real command of time and space and draws me in in a way that few pianists do.

By the way, please check this out especially if you're ready to give up guitar!

A rather nice audience recording of genesis at the marquee in 1982. A rare one as they played supper's ready
