A good tip; I've never found that leather straps work well with Breitling sports - bracelet or rubber.

Somebody's fascinated by the Navitimer :)

I'm looking at the prospect of a Chrono-matic 44mm, a black '00s edition as per:

    https://www.breitlingsource.com/watc...itimer_81.html

Any observations, reviews, watch-outs (no pun intended)? The ETA movement is presumably easily serviceable? Is the black ring around the bezel rubber, and if so does it degrade?

38mm Navitimer. Take note Breitling, it doesn't need to be bigger than this.

I picked this up in the watchfinder sale. Very happy with it. A bit smaller dia and much slimmer than watches I tend to wear, but i think the proportions are lovely.

Im going to need a bigger box. Mind you, this Transocean probably represents my last watch purchase for a good long time.

I'm delighted that everyone is enjoying the thread ressurection, but just a wee reminder that any info pros/cons etc on the chronomatic would be greatly appreciated!

I looked at the silver dial variant and it wears much smaller that the dimensions suggest IMO. I didn’t get it because I wanted a white dial watch at the time and the silver wasn’t what I was after. Shame though as it’s an utterly lovely watch and when I’m in the market for a Navitimer I’ll give this a look too. Not sure about the rubber bezel I’m afraid; maybe an e-mail to Breitling could help (I’ve always found them pretty helpful in the past)

    Navitimer 806

A model worn by Jim Clark and Graham Hill, still undervalued IMHO.

Amazing watch. Comedy height but makes me smile! Very comfortable, more so than expected.

Is that a curved end strap mate?

If it is, please could you tell me who/where from?

Magnificent. Looks like the day it left the AD! My slate grey B1 is a watch I regret selling and miss more than any other.

No-one does yellow dial watches better. They used to do these (or similar models) in a lovely coral/orange dial too.

After many years of searching I finally found a 1976 Navitimer. A birth year / grail watch, one that will definitely be worn on a regular basis rather than kept in its box.

We have a family tradition of passing down a gold pocket watch and chain from eldest son to eldest son over the last 120 years, this watch will now be included too.

I’m not sure what I think of the new Chronomats yet.
I like them in pictures... when I saw them at the AD I wasn’t so sure.
I think because I had the old one for so many years the new ones just look huge. Still quite fancy the green dial though.
