No, it's a special aged lume but the colour is much more subtle than that shown in the render. The lume is manufactured by a forum member.

    Looks good.

Will those come on NATOs, or will there be a special strap of some kind?

I remember reading from somewhere that the eta 2783 (and it's sisters) is the best movement eta has made.

whether this is true I'm looking forward of getting this one

    Looks beautiful Eddie!

Count me in. That's a cue I plan to be standing in. I'm surprised at how close the pictured hands look since you mentioned that the forms for the originals no longer exist.

Will the case finish be brushed like the original?

Have you decided on a strap style yet?

    Cheers,

    Konrad

This does look rather splendid. Can someone please explain, for the chronically ignorant (me), what it is about the 2783 that makes it special? All I have managed to find so far, is that it's not high beat.

Excellent, was looking for my 4th PRS 14, and was going to mod with a date dial, but this will be much better. Is the crown bigger so easier to grip and when is expected release?

I'm planning to make this with 20 different crown sizes to suit all fingers and the date can be at any position you want.

PS. Sorry, just having some sort of flashback, the result of attending the Isle of Wight Rock Concert in 1970.

So, are these 2783 movements without date wheels, or 2783 movements without a corresponding hole in the dial?

If it is the later, do you remove the wheel assembly to reduce the number of moving parts and reduce - by however a small amount - the chance of mechanical failure generally?

Sweet. I would have loved to have seen Jimi in all his pomp. And terry whatsisface from Chicago. Sadly I wasn't born until 5 years later though ;-)

Any chance of a teaser on the lume? I think aged lume can be easily overdone, so I'm curious to see how this turns out.

It's the same lume used on the PRS-20 California dial.

Not really the one I was personally hoping for these special NOS ETA 2783 movements but I think that the now fully announced PRS-82 is very likely the one most people wanted for this project in the first place and it should sell very well. If the new aged lume looks as good on this watch as it does on the Cali Dial Italian, I think buyers will love it.

I was hoping to purchase a SB3 as soon as they come into stock if the price doesn't go up to much.

However with all of these new watches coming out I keep changing my mind.

Is there any central resource listing what is in the pipeline?

  25. #125
Is that the same case that Smiths used in their Astral diver c.1968?

Pics from my SC thread here http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...W-UNDER-%A3500

(Not intending to give my thread a plug, just quoting the source of the pictures.)

And I've seen it on other watches from the late 60's right through the 70's.

The Astral has a bi-directional friction bezel and cyclops mounted under the (acrylic) crystal.

    edit:

just found two other old divers that use the same case - a Jaquet Girard, see post #7 in the link below

    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/jaq...rd-447941.html

    and a Rodania here:

    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/inc...er-423646.html

Or am I wrong about this? It's been known. :-)

^ I see the similarity, but both the original MOD issue Precista diver of the early 1980s and Eddie's new PRS-82 have assymetrical casing to the crown side to better imbed and protect the crown.

Really looking forward to the PRS-82 release, still missing my PRS-18A and who knows.. it might be the perfect substitute.

take the amount I can afford, or at least hide from my wife, add in the money recieved from various bodily fluid donations over the next several weeks and then multiply by 110%.

I'm hoping for a pre Xmas release on this. For the first time in my life I actually have some free cash, but I very much doubt I will be able to keep it free beyond then. The boiler will break down, or the car will go bang, or the roof will blow off the house.... something will happen to make that cash disappear!

OTOH, any chance of a new Astral line of dressy handwinders? Its a great name.
I'm probably kicking an old horse.
