Warm greetings and welcome, excellent pictures of an iconic time piece too.
Hello TZ-UK!
I've "lurked" here for quite a while! Back when I lived in the UK, I would waste hours fawning and pining over the amazing watches everyone here posts. Well, now I can join in ;)
I live in Tokyo now, as a scientist, and finally treated myself to a decent timepiece with some hard-earned money.
As with many other TZ-UK lurkers, I'd been reading through the forum, trying to find the ideal 'first' [mechanical, luxury] watch for me.
I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it; a 1999 Omega Speedmaster Professional 3572.50 (hesalite front, sapphire display back). The box is a little worn, but all the paperwork and guarantee are there. The watch itself is pristine. I've attached a few photos, now I've managed to prise it from my wrist.
Warm greetings and welcome, excellent pictures of an iconic time piece too.
Greetings and welcome, enjoy your time here with us.
Welcome...and congratulations on the iconic Speedy. It looks great on you
Cheers

Hi and welcome to the fun! I have to say that your lume shot is fantastic! Love how its lighting up the dial...
Great watch and great pictures! Welcome to the forum!
Welcome aboard!
Welcome from another newbie!
Lovely pics!
Planning on my next watch purchase being a speedy pro, leaning towards the 3570.50 as it is closest to the original, but the movement is lovely so tempting to go for the display back. Did you have any hesitation in going for the display back version over the 'original' ?
Also I didn't know there was a hesalite / sapphire version, though there was only sapphire sandwich.... interesting....
Welcome. Nice way to start the mechanical collection.
As others have said, good job with the photos, especially the line shot.
Welcome!
If you start with a speedy you start where some other guys ends their first way of watchcollecting - so congrats! ;)
And btw - what kind of mechanical watches are the hippest in japan - itīs not seiko, isnīt it?
Hi and welcome ot the forum.
Konnichiwa!
Great photos!
Welcome to the forum .
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Welcome, and can I say what a great movement photo that is :)
Congratulations on the purchase and welcome aboard! A very trusty steed you have there, with many pleasurable years of service to come.
Welcome and enjoy your stay
Congrats to your Saphire Sandwich! Fantastic watch and well chosen, mate! Wear it in good health...
Welcome, nice watch and pics.
Welcome!!
Hello!
Great way to start, can't go wrong with a Speedy - and you now a thing or two about pics by the look of it, you're gonna fit right in!
Enjoy!
Rob
Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome :)
Prior to this, I've mostly had Storm watches over the years, as the watches with movements such as this were just way out of my league. Now I'm earning my own money, I can spend it as I like :)
Thank you! It took me quite a while, and a lot of research, to finally settle on a watch. The Speedmaster Professional is certainly iconic. The 3570.50 is an excellent watch. I love the hesalite on the front. It just seems to suit it, and is softer around the edges. Then I saw the 3573.50... sapphire sandwich! Now I could see the movement! Gorgeous. I loved being able to see the movement... then I noticed Omega say "the first and only watch worn on the moon"... but it's not the only...
Then I managed to track down this gem. Sapphire back... lovely mechanical movement! Oh, and the excellent hesalite front! Best of both worlds, for me, is the 3572.50 :)
Thanks! I've had many watches before, but nothing like this. As for hippest in Japan... well, I see lots of Omega and Rolex watches... but the really trendy people either sport a vintage timepiece (i.e. pre 1970), or a hipster G-shock :)
Thanks! but as for the sapphire, see above ;)
Welcome to the forum, very nice Speedy.
Welcome aboard!
Welcome to the forum. Lovely watch.
Welcome. As others have said - great pics.

Wanted - Damasko DC57
Welcome. Hope you enjoy your time here.
Welcome to TZ-UK and congratulations on your recent acquisition Martin!
Can you shed any light on the notion that Japan is THE place to pick up pre-loved watches at slightly more reasonable prices?
Lovely watch, I have a speedmaster GMT Broadarrow that I picked up from a member here a few years ago when I lived over in Oz. Would love to also own one like yours one day.
Welcome to the Forum! Lume picture looks really nice.
Welcome. As mentioned some great pictures of a lovely watch. Enjoy
regards

Thanks all! :)
From what I have seen, yes. The Japanese do take very good care of their items. Do you remember the SEGA MegaDrive? You can find them in "as-new" condition here. There are many good watch shops selling used watches, which look almost brand new. They care for their stuff.
Prices are somewhat exchange-rate depended, but in general, they seem to be pretty good due to high competition.
Welcome to the Forums and enjoy that lovely watch.
Hello and welcome. Congrats, that is a fantastic choice for a first watch! Enjoy :-)
Thanks guys :)
