Gentlemen,
The day has finally come. After hovering around Rolex as a brand for what seems like an incredibly long time, I can now proudly say that I am an owner
My first love was the Kermit - a forum favourite, I believe, and one that has haunted my dreams for far to long, mostly by its absence in my watch box. However, there has also been a contender. A strong one at that... An angry one... A green specimen that some love and others love to hate. I am of course referring to the Hulk.
Now, before you get your torches and pitchforks, and move in to punish this obvious act of heresy... this was how it happened.
My first thought was that it was interesting but very very very greeeeeen. Surely, so green that a watch of this sort can not be worn unless it's Sct Patrick's day, which by the way is not celebrated in Denmark. Second thought was that it was not an anniversary sub, but just a very green sub. And not only that, but one with the new case which is somewhat less elegant that that of the 16610 (IMO). But the glide lock.... and the new bracelet.... oh my....
For a long time I dreamed of an early flat four Kermit. Possibly one with the new bracelet and lock, but that would just be wrong. A very good friend of mine in the US even told me, that getting the Hulk would simply be wrong because a crappy noisy low quality bracelet and below par lock is part of the joy of owning a Rolex (his words, gentlemen, not mine ).
What finally swayed me was seeing a preloved Hulk in the flesh at a dealer. To my surprise the dial was not green but black. And then green. And then both. Ever changing and very beautiful, and amazingly different from all the Rolex propaganda photos. A Hulk owners thread at a different forum with a lot of wrist shots convinced me that the green dial (that I secretly found very fresh and appealing) is only green sometimes, and is much more versatile that I had originally thought. There is simply so much play in the dial - it is amazing !
The case I currently have no excuse for, but feel that it will grow on me. No further comments at this time.
After chasing around grey market dealers in the US, trying the usual suspects in Europe, and consulting a couple of my most trusted TZ-UK friends, I decided to move in for the kill. Ordered from a Danish AD yesterday morning, received today, bracelet resized to my liking, I have worn this beauty since noon. It puts a huge smile on my face every time I check.. well.. errr... time
Enough talk - heres a few pics, which I hope you'll enjoy. I'll see if I can make a few really good ones soon. The wrist shots are all shot in a traffic safe manner, which means in my car how from work, but only at red lights
Pictures in the next post...

Henrik,
great post and your pictures capture the feel of the watch very well.
Great photos illustrating the black/green, green/black transition. It certainly shows its flexibility for many occasions.
Looks stunning Henrik. I'm extremely tempted to pick one of these up!!
Love the transition photos, the dial effect is lovely.
Don't like it , don't want it , look's good , might consider it , Ummmm i want one.
Well done Henrik
It looks great, wear it well
Ser godt ud Henrik.
Perhaps it's just me being a wuss but I've never had anything but black dialed watches. Don't really know why because something like your watch certainly looks fantastic.

Good call - glad you've gone for it!
As you say, the dial has so much more depth than is first apparent, especially compared to how it appears in brochure shots, or even brightly-lit AD windows - it's much more multi-dimensional, being quite a subtle bottle green/black in some light, and developing a 3D effect as the light catches it. I'm very emamoured with mine.
It's a classic and stunningly beautiful watch, congratulations!
Absolutely gorgeous watch. Just hope that sometime in the not hugely distant future I'll be able to afford one.
Wear it in good health mate!
Lovely piece - a wonderful pedigree and of the highest quality.
"A good bit of kit."
Wear it well.
very very nice watch!
Love the pictures where the dial is hit by the sunlight. A great way to show the real beauty of the dial.
Great watch and the pictures really do it justice
Absolutely gorgeous Henrik... The right decision my friend!
(Now onwards and upwards to the 214270!)
Rob
Nice one Henrik.
There are times when a new piece really hits the spot, and it appears that this is one of those times.
Henrik,
The post is good, the pictures are good and no matter how many times you try to post or take pictures of it, it still doesn't show the true beauty of the watch.
IMHO it is the best watch Rolex has ever done, though you now know that and will choose it to wear over all your other watches.
Congratulations and wear it in good health.
Regards.
Keith.
PS: - mine, though with a poor iPhone picture says hello -
Congrats Henrik.
IMHO a great choice. It's a bit marmite, but it's one you don't really 'get'... Until you get one.
- if that makes sense ?

Lovely! Congrats. I've always wanted to try one of these on
Many congratulations on a super watch. Your post reminded me of when I got mine - here a few posts from then with pics and opinions

Still love mine.
Stunning watch- wear in good health, Henrik.
Just don't make it angry...
Thanks Rob, the dial is indeed hard to capture and very much full of life. It is very unique, and I share you passion. Your pictures were in inspiration in the entire process
Cheers, Dunc - and thank you for the help.
Thanks Rob. I think this is the right one as well, even though it took some time... As for the 214270.... When I'm done licking my wounds from the Hulk and have sold an organ or two on the black market
Thanks, D, and thanks for checking with you local guy. Best to Mrs. Goat.
It is, Stern, it is. I am super impressed with it so far, and it just keeps getting better.
Thanks Keith, this is indeed a very special watch and imo one of the very much more interesting ones Rolex has done ever. Unimaginable beautiful dial. Stunner you have there too
Thanks, Zelig. It suspect it is exceptionally much a marmite watch, but it makes sense... Happy I got it and get it
Amazing - absolutely amazing. I might consider getting one aswell....:-)
Congratulations!!!
Henrik I've just close a deal on a Sub ND 14060M but now I want one of those
Wear and enjoy it in good health.
Now I know why I was told I would need deep pockets when I joined the Forum.
Stunning pictures too.
Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations Henrik, great pictures of a stunning watch. I love the colour changes of the dial depending on how the light hits it, hopefully one day...
That is a lovely watch, with some amazing photography.
Well done Henrik.
I think I’ve just added the Hulk to my want/need list...
Love mine well both of them.
