The next one needs to be a keeper, let's see your keepers that will never be sold

After trying around 60-70 watches from several brands I'm finally slowing down and looking for my first real keeper. I've just about narrowed it down to these three, Blue YM, Galatic 41mm and the 42mm Liquid Metal PO.

If you have a keeper I'd like to see it as I might get some more inspiration.

There was a similar thread recently in which I posted this pic - I can't think of a single reason to get rid of any of these three, but the SMP will have to be prised from my cold dead hands - then given to my son. Of course I'd rather I was still alive to see the handover.

Can't give you any inspiration Paul, as you've chosen a blue faced YachtMaster....job done IMO.
I'm probably on the lookout for one more after thinning my collection, so the three 'main pieces' I have, Tutima Grand Classic, Breitling SO44 & Rolex GMTIIc, after a long, long time seem to be the ones that I'm really happy to own and enjoy. That YM is watch perfection for me though, (cough) along with a few others, & strangely your Panerai, that I really think should be a keeper, but for some unknown reason you're trying to sell for Goodness sake!
Will be interested to see what your 'keeper' is, if & when you pull the trigger.
    Neal.

Well, I learned "never say never" with my Rolex Explorer I, which just sold today. Enjoyed the watch immensely, now time to move on.

My "collection" has now been narrowed down to two, and possibly a third Omega will be along this year. Here are my two which, at this time, I can't see myself ever wanting to sell:

A perfect set. The Speedy has a hesalite crystal and a manually wound movement, two things I wanted badly in a watch before I got the Speedy.
The AT8500 has my favourite automatic movement. I love the independent hour hand changing capability. It's quite simply a gorgeous watch for any occasion.

    Cheers
    Carl

No apologies for posting this one again.

I can't see much reason to ever part with either of these except to raise money to eat!

I reckon the blue dialed Yacht-Master will overtake the platinum dialed version by being more desirable, hold it's value better & will lose the tag of being a "blinged Sub" which only the ignorant use.

This is what's so fascinating about this hobby - individual taste is exactly that... individual.

If someone told me that I could have any of those three specific watches but that I had to keep it forever, then I'd take the PO in a heartbeat. That's in spite of the fact that of the three brands Breitling is my favourite. My reasons (based on my own personal taste, remember) would be these...

    - I really don't like the raised bezel numerals on the YM - that just doesn't work for me.

    - There are a number of Breitlings I'd cheerfully keep forever, but that Galactic wouldn't be one of them - I think it's too small and I hate the big square in the middle of the dial.

    - The PO is just beautiful. the right size and probably a really good bet if you ever went down to just one watch.

But as I say, all this is just my opinion, with no disrespect intended...

In terms of what would be my keeper in my own current collection, then as it stands at the moment it would be my Steelfish below (oh, and the Omega Geneve Dynamic I was given for my 21st birthday. I never wear it but I'll always keep it).

Blue dialled YM out of those three for me.

At the moment, this is the only absolute 'keeper'...

The next one needs to be a keeper, let's see your keepers that will never be so

My keeper is a 16610, but everyone has/had one, and it could be considered a little boring. The YM is lovely, but it is a lot more expensive than the others, isn't that versatile, and I would be a bit precious about it if it was mine. Hard to go wrong with a PO. After. 60 or so watches I guess you know what you like!

This is a keeper, it ticks all the boxes for me.

Dress, casual, diver, the Rubber fetish is covered both deployment and buckle, with choice's of Mesh, leather deployment it's the all rounder for me.

I could even slip another bezel on it, but i like the all black look.

The ones i would always keep are what i call the"afghanistan watches", the eco zilla is what i wore during my time there and it never missed a beat and as such, will always be a bit of a watch hero to me

this is a gift to myself which i bought whilst i was out there as something to look forward to getting home to.

this is the one i bought when i got home and felt like i wanted to waste some of my money on something a bit special.

YM a big no no from me due to the easily marked bezels. I've owned 3 and you have to be super careful with them.

A sub C or Gmt C do it better for me.

As one watch the new YM would be a keeper for me. The 42MM Explorer2 in white also.

    My keepers are:

    Omega Seamaster 2531 & 2254
Breitling Superocean GMT 1 of 100
    Rolex SD
    Rolex 14060M COSC
    Rolex Sub LV
    Dreadnought
    Speedbird GMT

There are more but those are going nowhere.
It's just a matter of time...

Of the 3 shown I would like to try the Breitling. I love the PO but the height is an issue. I also like the look (in pictures at least) of the YM but would be terrified of donking the bezel.

The YM Is just lovely, but I do need the new bracelet and clasp, which negates pre-2012 versions.

I would go with the Blue dial YM.... but then I'm biased, love the watch and it's going to be a keeper for sure.

Prior to getting this it was my grail and since getting it I still cannot get over the dial, it is simply stunning and definitely a keeper.

I wore this for almost 12 months during a "peace-keeping" mission 13 years ago.

    Wasn't really into watches then...

I decided to keep this as I sold it once and felt the need to get it back, I think that's some sort of signal?!

My justification for buying this was that i'd pass it on to my son so i guess that makes it a keeper.
