Richmond Spencer - Anyone got one?

This is a watch I've always wanted to own and quite possibly one of Eddie's best IMO. Trouble is, it seems to be rarer than the DN! I'm not looking to buy one now, but just out of interest, who owns one and what is your opinion? It's a watch I rarely see photos of on this site, never appearing in the Friday thread!

Good question - I only became aware of this watch today.

What is the history to the name? Was it another watch brand of old?

No - I think it's got personal connection to Eddie...I'm sure someone will answer more fully.

This is odd as I have also been meaning to ask what peoples thoughts on this are... after it was mentioned in the whats the favourite TF watch thread. I have always really admired it - I've heard its rated highly and remember Eddie saying it was one of his favourites that he produced.

As for the name I'm sure its got something to do with his parents surnames as in PRS (Platts Richmond Spencer) but I might have got that wrong.

Any more info, thoughts and of course pictures greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I like the hands and although not a fan of Roman numerals I like the way they are applied to the dial! Case is not too thin either!

Was this when decorated 6498 movements were still avaiable at very nice prices?

and for those relative newbies who really pay attention: they are the R and S in the PRS named series..... Now where did that P come from.......

for the forum members from before 2004 that should be a no-brainer.....

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^ I know but I'm not saying.

My father had two of the Richmond Spencers (one was stolen so the second replaced it) out of the thirty made.
After he passed on I received the watch so I guess it's an heirloom

Mine does get worn quite regularly, it is a very nice movement and it is also a lovely dress watch.
I'm not going to say how much they were selling for six or seven years ago but it was amazing value for money

It's one I don't wear often but love it when I do. Classic dress watch.

I thought it was, 'Platts', but I didn't join the forum until 2008 so not really qualified.
PS. Still got my Richmond Spencer and still love it.

The Wayback machine is a great reference tool for the older Timefactors models.

Not the best pic by far but it does show the champagne dial.

What a fantastic present - congratulations!

It looks like quite a Christmassy watch with the blue, silver and white.
