    Some Speedy Love

Since joining this great forum a little while ago, I have been going on about my new Omega AT 8500, midsize, blue dial, affectionately known as the AT Skyfall.

The watch I wear daily, during the week, to work, is my Speedy. It is my favourite watch so far, and will likely always be. Decided to take my camera with me today, so took a few shots at work and on my way home:

I love the hesalite crystal, how it is domed, and how the light hits it:

Only thing about this 3750.50 Speedy "Moonwatch" is that I can't see the beautiful movement. That was my choice, though, as I wanted the model closest to the original. The one worn when I watched the moon landing in 1969 with my Dad.

    Cheers
    Carl

Very nice! There really is something special about these. I can't explain why but my first gen moonwatch is an absolute favourite and I love wearing it.

Being new to Omega ownership and it being of the speedy family as well i find the history fascinating smashing watch, and the pic's look great, i see we have the fence post shot but you have raised the game with the pipe and flange shot well done.

Like the OP I wanted the definitive Moon Watch (If not the original Apollo 11 spec), but that movement is really too lovely to hide away, so my Speedmaster Pro now has a glass display back whilst the solid back sits safely in a box.

A great investment, I think, if only for the few seconds I glimpse the movement as I pick it up to put it on.

I was saying only a day or two ago to two different people that, for me, it's hard to think of a better all round watch. It's a great size, but not too flash and looks great on a bracelet or a strap. (My only quibble is the awkwardness of winding it).

Mine isn't quite my favourite watch, but, push come to shove, if I could only have one watch I suspect it'd be my Speedmaster Professional.

Agree about the lure of the speedy pro.

I recently sold a brietling wings and a series 2 über rare zenith el Primero, and I don't miss either.

I looked at one stage to sell the omega, but couldn't go through with it.

Stop it you lot! You're really not helping me resist the lure. I've only recently bought an SMP and I will very soon have a large bill to pay for work on my car. I'm not in a position to buy a Speedy yet, but I sooooo want one!

Very nice Speedy! Wear it in good health.

The Speedmaster is one of the most iconic watches ever made! I think we all can agree that.

The Speedmaster was my first watch. The one I now have in the little collection is my second one. Piece from 1989, what is my birth year.

This is the 50th Anniversary 'Big Box' Speedy, co-axial with enamelled face. 1 of 1957. It's genuine.

Great pictures Carl - as for the display back if you're lucky you can find one second hand. I was lucky and a watchmaker I know had an original which I bought. After using it for a short time, I decided that the original case back was more for me, though.

    Fellow speedy greeting :-)

Nice! Here is my 1998 example. I would like to have a tritium dial, but luminova will have to do for now.

I wouldn't say that "speedy love" was anything to be proud of IYSWIM :D but there are some nice photos in this thread. It's an easy watch to take a good photo of, as the acrylic is a good source of optical interest.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
