    Italian - PRS-20 Specs

Couldn't find an option to make it a Sticky but the title should make searches easy.

    Stainless steel case, 44mm x 44mm
    Half-wire lugs, removable by screws
Domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the underside
    8mm diamond crown
    100 metres water resistant
Black sandwich dial with SuperLuminova C3
Blued steel hands with Superluminova C3
Screwed back with sapphire insert, anti-reflective coating on the underside
    Movement
    Unitas 6498-1 soigné (18,000 bph)
    Decorated with Geneva stripes
    Screwed balance
    Blued screws
    Blued steel swan-neck regulator

Fitted with a tan leather strap with signed fishtail buckle.

The non-limited edition version will be identical specification except the movement will be the standard Unitas 6498-1 and it won't have a view back.

LE has been sold out for months.

Please excuse this question if it has been asked and answered in the past.

Will the strap require tubes as in the wider lug widths of the other Italian-style watches, or will the straps necesarily need to be of a somewhat thicker composition without tubes?

Thanks, in advance, to all who reply.

That's gonna be some bitchin' homage watch. If I ever get one (very likely) I'm gonna try putting a 24mm strap on it with notches so it will fit.

...although Eddie told me that mine would be booby trapped with explosives so I can't remove the lugs.

Inspiration for the hands. Sorry I couldn't find a pic of the actual hands.

Thanks for puting it all together for easy viewing Ron,

but a Darlek avatar? I didn't know you are a Whovian as well!

On another note, maybe you can help me out. Or maybe someone can. I can't figure out how to get an avatar photo small enough to use here. No matter how I adjust it with my program here, I can't get it under the 6mb maximum. Any tips for me?
    TIA,
    Mike

Nice work, ron - all the news that's fit to print! :)

(And Mr. Boots - there' a max size, both in pixels and in memory used. Try getting a smaller pic, maybe 100x60 pix max. That should do it.)

Ditto! Been after a watch in this style for ages, don't want to fork out thousands for a Panerai & Eddie's looks to be at least as good for an exceptional price!

Mind you the wait is beginning to hurt! But it'll all be worth it when the postman comes a-knocking ..

It's also a de-coupling crown so it doesn't break the mainspring when you screw it in.

Good idea Eddie; a broken mainspring is why my Plasmir Milgraph never gets wound up. If you're using a screw down crown, there must be something to protect the mainspring from getting broken. There's nothing like a $1,000 watch that won't run when the spring doesn't respond when you wind up the watch crown by showing resistance so that you know the watch is fully wound.

    Non-LE Price?

What is the price for one of Eddie's PRS-20 (non-LE) watches? I've been looking all over the site for it, but must have missed it somehow.

    Cheers!

    Good question.

It seems Eddie has ended his vacation a little early, what with the return of the "Add To Basked" button and addition of the PRS-20 and all.

What does 'In Stock' mean? What's the price?

Didn't Eddie say somewhere that he was still waiting for the final invoice from Herr Fricker to find out what they had actually cost him?

If you want to guestimate it, try taking off the cost of the 4 watch case and a couple of extra straps from the LE price and round it down a bit for the solid back and std movement.

Or you can wait for Fricker to start back to work and send Eddie the invoice. Maybe all of these first 10 won't have been ordered by then

IIRC you'd have to keep in mind that Eddie ate much of the cost increase on the LE, so figuring something close to the LE price might not put you out of the ballpark.

    Non LE Price?

Dean writes: "...figuring something close to the LE price might not put you out of the ballpark."

Timing is everything. By the time I looked, the only price I was able to find for the LE version was "Sold Out."

Is anyone willing to reveal the original price of the LE version?

I know that several PRS-20 LE watches have sold on the forum, but don't know whether those prices were higher or lower than the new price.

With other items, I've found that "if I had to ask the price, I couldn't afford them."

    Sigh...

LE price was Ł550. I always heard that Eddie was pitching the non-LE in the Ł350 sort of price range, but exact figures depend on the final invoice.

    Non LE price

    Thanks for that, Dave.

Now that Eddie's gone and posted such a low price for the Non-LE Italian, I have to give it serious consideration. As long as it was firmly "out of reach," I didn't have to worry about it...

    Cheers!

I very much like my LE, and that price for the non-LE is particularly good value IMHO...

Back in stock. Damn. My watch budget is dead this side of Christmas... :?

Mind, I do have a 97% titanium Marine Militare homage I could put on SC; I've hardly worn it since I've bought so many other watches these past few weeks.

How big are your 'turns'? Give the crown a realy roll, the length of your thumb, and it'll take fewer turns. My Panerai takes 20 turns for a 24-hour period of wear. Does that help?

I can't remember how many winds it takes from stopped up to the top but wearing it every day and winding it first thing in the morning, it takes 13 - 15 winds to take it back to the top. I suppose it takes fewer winds than other Unitas-based watches I've owned because of the comparatively large crown.

Wouldn't that have the opposite effect? If each turn involves running your thumb up a couple of cm, when the crown is big, its circumference is big, so that couple of cm means a fewer number of turns?

I suppose it takes fewer winds than other Unitas-based watches I've owned because of the comparatively large crown.

    Eddie
Wouldn't that have the opposite effect? If each turn involves running your thumb up a couple of cm, when the crown is big, its circumference is big, so that couple of cm means a fewer number of turns?
    1. Isn't that what is known as 'gearing'?

    2. It also depends on the length of the thumb and what Eddie defined as 'the stroke'.

We need a formula. Something like ... "The angle of the dangle is twice the heat of the meat." :|

I love my PRS-20. Got it two weeks ago and it didn't get of my wrist since then.
