very nice to see a 'collection' well done, I once owned a Precista quartz, a bit different from the usual CWC

The 1981 pilot's chronograph has a manual wind Valjoux 7733 movement. The 1982 automatic diver has an ETA 2783 movement. The others are quartz.

No sir. It was the one that didn't seem to catch much notice on MWR's PX. It is in fantastic shape!

    Seven Issued Precistas

A great single make collection, thanks for showing that. Well done for tracking them all down, it must have taken some patience.

Sure. Those are the divers that were issued in 1988 (left) and 1989 (right) -- the ones that Eddie's PRS-17 editions are styled after.

Not quite there yet but getting closer

These are the 5 issued ones:
    81 6BB chrono
82 auto diver (still trying to source a bezel)
    82 G10
    84 6bb G10
    93 diver

Still looking for the 88 & 89 divers so these are filling in:
    PRS-17Q (Eddies 89 diver re-issue)
PRS-14 auto (closest I've got to the 88 diver)

    5 out of 7

Well Phil you have got the three hardest ones to get in terms of numbers issued. Be patient and the other two will surface eventually.
Remember putting my 7 together and the mania/obsession it caused me, trawling all my spare time. Funny thing is though, once I'd
got them didn't know what to do, guess its the thrill of the chase - for me anyway. Only have the 81 chrono and 82 auto left now but wont
be offloading them anytime soon. Got my sights on another set of grails now so we will see !

    I know what you mean

As you say it becomes an obsession!

Maybe next will try and find both versions of the Seiko Gen 2 - previously had a few of the lumed versions and even got offered a non-lume version years ago which I didn't take up but currently just have the Gen 1. We'll see!

Great collection, Glickman, and thanks for showing it. I always especially like seeing the classic Precista MOD issue mechanical chronos like yours, in part because I think they had the style hands I like best of all the manufacturers MOD issued contracts to for these twin pusher chronos I remember seeing pictures of (though I've always liked all of those of that MOD specification very much along with the very neat older Lemania single pusher MOD chronos that preceeded).

    ..............................................
Philjopa, thanks for showing your collection as well, and as with Gickman's, especially enjoy seeing the MOD issue Precista mechanical chronos --- and the close-up shot of yours is great.

And I'm sure you of course want to source an original bezel for your nice issue '82 diver -- it's a collection after all -- but I have to comment (while admitting I've for some reason never really personally liked the way this particular Precista model looked much) that I was very surprised how much better I thought it looked bezel-less like that (analogous--BUT NOT QUITE--to seeing a picture of a nice-looking but previously overlooked woman with her top off, maybe). My first thought was that Precista had made a latter day version of the earlier 6B mechanical "Navigators" I didn't know about, until I read on.

When I realized that it was a bezel-less '82 diver, I was also surprised that these appear to have
mil-spec type domed and "armoured" acrylic crystals(?) because I had for some reason assumed these original '82 Precistas had the flatter press-fit type mineral glass crystals like (I think) even the earliest CWC MOD divers had, including the post-Mil-Sub CWC Automatic Diver apparently issued by MOD for only one year before changing its spec to quartz.

Best of Luck finding an original bezel for this one though.

Thanks both of you for showing your collections. Rollon

Good luck with your Precista Robert. I'm becoming increasingly interested in this model. Unfortunately an original is out of my price range; but I’m hoping Eddie (Timefactors) will produce a reissue one day.

When's Eddie going to make a Timefactors homage........!!!!!!!!
In case you each didn't already know about it, I guess you're all in luck because Eddie just announced his new homage to the '82 project (PRS-82) and has been hinting at it since starting a thread called "I've just got hold..." over at the TF Watches subforum regarding the 200 '82 Precista correct NOS ETA cal.2783 vintage movements he found.

Though the movement is apparently exactly the same one the original Precista '82 used, I think the new TF version of this watch may differ a bit in a few details to the originals. However, I don't myself know or have any idea if the bezels will be interchangeable between the new and the original, but I imagine it might be a possibility.
