it would help if you told us about the collection...
It's my daughter's wedding later this year and some of my collection may need to go. The trouble is, which ones. Having around twenty watches means that I very rarely wear them. I've had a look today but can't choose!

Wheres the fun in that? Start with a random decimation. Line them up and sell every tenth one. Or fifth one.
Let karma decide
Dont go to the wedding lol
with pics would be even better...
Do you have any pics? it would help to sell them if you do.
No pics yet awhile! I need some suggestions for thinning out criteria, not "I want that one!"
Mike
Pick one that will look the best with the outfit you will wear at the wedding and sell the rest. Alternatively, place them all in a bath tub full of water and keep the one that sinks the fastest, selling the rest. Another idea, keep the one that smells the nicest and bin the rest.
OK I'm sitting in London City Airport with nothing better to do so I'll have a go...
First set aside any watches that for sentimental reasons you 'can't' sell.
Next, if there's a single watch that you would keep if you had to reduce to just one (and you haven't already set it aside), then put that back as well.
Next decide if there are any themes or particular predilections that run through your collection. That could be makes, styles or even colours. Does that suggest any you must keep? If so put them back.
Now look at what's left. Which ones will most quickly raise the money you need to fund your daughters wedding? Put them up for sale. If once you've done that you have any more left, ask yourself whether or not you want to keep them or sell them.
Job done.
Oh, and if you have a Seawolf Ti you decide to sell, can I have first refusal please?
I sympathise with your dilemma by the way, as my daughter gets married in August and the mounting bill is scary :)
Simon
Don't buy twenty watches if you can't pay for a wedding?
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Do what my father-in-law did and don't pay anything towards the wedding but turn up for the free meal and drinks.;)
Some good suggestions there (and some not so good!). More pondering is required. Many are horses for courses, so I guess that I shall have to see which "courses" I attend most. It's not that I need the dosh but I hate touching savings. Her indoors prefers to sell my watches than touch "her" savings!
Mike
With 20 watches you must have some that duplicate a purpose or niche.
Decide what you need - Everyday, Sports, Dress, Special Occassion, Holiday, Investment, Rare.
Select your favourite one for each category, then the rest are candidates for disposal.
Wot's in the collection no way of telling wot to keep or get rid of then otherwise.
Get rid of the ones which you can't remember when was the last time you wore them.
