A fake Omega SMP on the bay??

    Hi Guys,

This Omega has all the makings of a fake or is it?

Back case seems different, so does the dial markers.
Crown guard and clasp ain't looking normal either.

    Or am I seeing things?

Just look at the alignment of the date in the date window, it's miles out!

Agreed, dead giveaways. Also the second hand looks to be misaligned and there's something not quite right about the text on the dial.

Poor looking example alright and the fact that he has no history as a seller.

That's terrible, but at least it's bad enough that no-one is showing any interest (yet).
I once was very nearly caught out with a fake 2254.50. It was really accurate, with the HEV valve in the correct place, slim case, crown guards spot on, really good dial (which may have been genuine). It was on an OEM leather strap and altogether looked the business. The flaw that started alarm bells ringing was the bezel 'dot', but initially I thought the insert may have been damaged and replaced with an aftermarket item. It turned out to have an ETA 2836 inside and on closer comparison the case / caseback combination was slightly thicker to accomodate it, but I needed my own 2254.50 in my hand to be able to see it. The overall fit and finish was good and if I didn't already own one I seriously doubt if I would have caught on. To be fair I think the seller hadn't any idea that it wasn't right. It was in a totally different league to this poor specimen.

That bracelet really is terrible. Looks like the monstosities that Seiko inflict on their fives!

I think that would put me off whether I thought it was fake or not.

Surprisingly there are 3 bidders with decent feedback.
Curious to see how much its eventually goes for.
