    Blue Deepsea

Plenty of rumours going about that Rolex are going to release a blue Deepsea on 4th August.

Rolex's own website is hardly a place renowned for starting inane rumours ! Take a look at the teaser on www.rolex.com

The timing of the release is indeed uncharacteristic, but who's going to complain at two rounds of releases in a year ? Personally I'm still waiting for a new rose gold Dual Time, which is a most beautiful watch and one which I hope heralds even more complicated models to come. Did anyone say Rolex were deliberately chasing some of Patek's market ?

    Hello,
May I ask what dual time? The Cellini one?
Or the "eventually" new two time zone caliber they are working on?

I hope they will reveal more in the matter of days maybe weeks, that picture is mysteriously making me think now it may not be deepsea but something completely different

Frankly, for all this hype, I sincerely hope it's.a damn sight more exciting than just one model in the extensive range being available in a different colour-way. Jeebus Cripes

    Fantastic!

How do they come up with it, a blue version!

Have they discovered there's a whole spectrum of colors out there?

It would be massively disappointing if that's all it was, but I fear the worst as I can't see a new model being released this way. That said, I don't think it'll be a blue Deepsea as that watch really isn't one to start "dressing up" in any way.

That's the worst wearable Rolex of all time.
So blue or black doesn't matter for me :)

It would differentiate it nicely from the SDc though.

Would it be the flat blue or the sunburst blue... My guess would be the flat blue which didn't work well on the gold Subs.

I think Ti would be far more likely and appropriate.

Agreed, I've just got my hand down the back of the sofa now to see if I've got enough loose change to cover it should it become reality.

It would also be one of the only modern instances of Rolex aping Omega (with their Ti/Blue fetish).

I never thought of it as a Ti blue SD - That would definitely be interesting.

As the new film is coming out about JC, i was thinking they may make a WG version similar to the WG sub?

The gold version is possible, and I've actually heard people claim to want one on TRF. However, making this watch in gold is going to turn a somewhat unwearable watch into a watch that only a masochist would wear. On the other hand, Ti would make it more wearable. At least we don't have to wait very long to find out.

Yeah they're making mock ups of the blue DSSD already over there hahah.

But yeah i know what you mean, maybe it might be a special edition watch that maybe hardcore collectors would want to celebrate the release of the film... All speculation really.

Only 3 days away but they're going to feel like forever!

Not to mention the price of a WG piece, I wonder how many will 'want one' then.

A lot less than the number crying about how they wish it was released in steel, just as with the new GMT2 Pepsi or the WG and blue Sub.

Agreed, my friend has the WG sub and it's a lovely watch but I just could not wear it, you only have to look at it the wrong way and it marks.

They are not that bad, probably no worse for picking marks up than a SS sub

The Cameron documentary is due out on Friday - preview perhaps?

ETA: Nope. Reviews already out - shown late last month. Sounds like it might be quite good though.

There's some sort of Press Release tonight at the Natural History Museum for the Deepsea Challenger according to activity on James Cameron's Twitter. Perhaps could coincide therefore a later release from NY?

Come meet the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER at NYC's American Museum of Natural History this Monday 8/4 during museum hours.
