After thinking about a Seiko for many many months I'm quite sure I have it narrowed down to a black monster on stainless bracelet.
I like that fact that it is a divers watch, with day and date, and it's not a "sub-alike" but actually very different.
Whilst looking through the forum I chanced upon a picture of one with a mesh bracelet which really did look very good, and I've seen a few on leather.
Where is the best place to buy a monster???
Also, please do post up as many pictures as you like of your monsters on rubber, bracelets, NATOs, leather, etc etc. I'm really keen to see how they look with different strap combos.
Cheers.

Ralphy, how come you always find way to temp us..I always regret choosing orange over black and hate the bracelet, till I have have your blue dial..and love the orange gray strap!
I have a nice Orange Monster, sadly not worn enough, I find that it takes a while to wind up on my wrist and keep it wound, perhaps I'm doing something wrong??
On a Nato:
On Maratac:
Velcro:
BadgerBones:
And bracelet:

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
I received a BM from my wife as a Christmas present.
Adjusted the bracelet yesterday, but think the watch looks better on Zulus or NATOs personally.
I went for the bracelet so that I always had it, but think it is just too bling / 'shiny & shouty'
And of course it looks proper hard on nylon :-)
My version of snow monster
(orange monster with original dial of JDM PVD model with white dial)
It goes well on one of Eddie's Rhino straps, the only picture I have of mine on one is in a group shot:
I would be interested to see an orange monster on a black isofrane (or Time Factors equivalent).

On leather
The watch was from Creation and the strap from Sectime.
Mine....as Mother Nature intended!!
I wish I still had this one:
I could never get on with the narrow lugs - bracelet too flashy, Natos look narrow and odd - after months of fiddling I sold my monster recently (having owned 4 over the years) - I really want to like them, but not for me. I prefer a Casio vanilla 5600 for bashing about!
And there you have it - decide on a monster, go our for lunch to a place with no phone signal, and one comes up on the sales forum but sells in an hour or so!!!!
Must pay more attention.
Have a Black Monster and would seriously consider selling a kidney to fund a Snow Monster
I've only one but after Ralphys pics, it just seems dead boring !!
And it's been de-blinged (shine removed!!)...

I'll play !

I have this one, worn this summer. I'm considering swapping the standard setup to an orange MkII and Plongeur hands now.

Where can I buy the new seiko monster with the new 4r36 movement
Are there in any sellers in uk from where I can buy them?
How difficult it is to put a different strap on this watch
As easy as any other watch with drilled end-lugs to change the strap, mine was sourced from the USA:http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_se...qid=1356815080
but I'm not sure where in the UK they're available.

You can get them from Creation Watches
I love the monster, but I have pencil wrists and thought the case was a bit too large for me. This is a midsize diver case, with monster hands and dial...
There is a retailer and watch repairer in Bolton (Time-Piece?, in Crompton Place) that surprised me by having the original Monster for sale as well as a selection of SKX007s and 009s on rubber straps. Didn't think these were commonly available in the UK. Monster was £185 on bracelet...
Ant
Well, the lume on the indices matches that on the hands (it didn't on the old model) and is a much softer and to my mind nicer colour; the black and red second hand is very striking, and works really well in terms of the overall look; and of course the new movement hacks, as well as hand-winds. The finish on the bezel seems a lot better too, and personally I prefer the new crown.
If I buy from creation watches wouldn't I have to pay duty and VAT when it arrives?
I think for now I would go for the new monster in black and then probably put NATO strap on it
i think it depends how lucky you are! sometimes it will go straight through and sometimes you end up paying vat and the mail fee for processing.....
take 2 exact same watches from usa and uk......
seiko monster creation watches £219
seiko monster yorkshire watches £286
there is not a lot in it if you factor that you will get stung for vat / importing charges..... both watches are the same spec japan made as it shows on the model number with a J instead of the K.
I felt left out.
i don't think there is any difference between the j and the k, as they both have the same movements. i think the k watches are maed in korea(?) but from a point of view that the J in the model number commands more money than the K model numbers.
i could be wrong on that so happy for someone to correct this.
Here's my old Seiko Black Monster modded by Yobokies
Now currently after an Orange Monster as I miss the black one, & want a holiday watch lol
+2
dial is "cleaner" too... though still same problems with the bezel not aligning to the side of the case on some pieces...
may want to check out the newer ones which shouldn't cost a lot more than the old...
i have the old black monster (this started my seikoholism actually) and somehow, couldn't justify getting a newer one since they both very, very similar! wishing i got the orange instead of the black one though (personal preference really)... amidst a sea of black dialed watches (never thought i would get addicted LOL)...
here's mine...
on green skunk....
bone stock
on gray nato....

The new one is sold out on Creation. Can't help but think, from past experience, that threads like these contribute!
So £210 for the new when in stock. Good news for those happy to get the outgoing, and especially the 'K', models. They can be had relatively cheap at ~ £130!
Mine on a £8 orange silicone which "chunks out" the lugs and is supremely comfortable.
Have also had it on a orange NATO... very summery !!
Just as an aside, I waited month after month for a Tuna to come up on SC; bought the new Monster having decided it wasn't going to happen; immediately thereafter (naturally) found a Tuna and therefore moved the Monster on; and now regret my decision.
They're great watches, but I'll say again that IMO the new one is a radical improvement over the old.

I remember seeing a sand blasted monster a few months back - looked very cool!
Tony offered me his, i snapped his hand off.
The new model is so much better looking, the dial design is cleaner and i love the metal surround on the lume.
Still the same fantastic bracelet.
Prefer the old crown and the bezel does not match the side of the case, as mentioned above. I can live with those two things though!
