If Reacher is as tall as in the books, that would count out Hardy and a fair few others including Thomas Jane.

    How about David Hasselhoff

    Ouch!

I would consider the 6'6" Clint Walker (now in his late 80s) before Hasselhoff!

Tom Cruise smiles too much (expensive teeth). Jack Reacher is supposed to be moody and troubled.

Personally, I'd have cast a 'Blade Runner' era Harrison Ford.

That trailer has made me want to miss this film more than any other...

    some Reacher fans here methinks

I am thinking of trying a few of these novels having got a Kindle for Xmas..

There seem to be loads of Reacher novels and I dunno where to start

What are the best Reacher books?

The earlier ones, the last few have been exceedingly formulaic, and IMO, the worse for it.

Start at the beginning (Killing Floor)and keep going. You don't have to read them in order as they are all stand alone, but there are some references so past events and the odd recurring character. So far i agree that the earlier ones are better, but that doesn't mean that the later ones are a bad read.

Agreed, Killing Floor is the place to start reading, much better option for the first film too IMHO.
